This place has changed a great deal in the past few years, for the better. It is now very smooth and efficient and I had absolutely no wait time. However, this can vary depending on the day and you arrive. You must now take ID showing your right to use a Newcastle waste centre and the entry is based on your car registration I.e. odd and even days so check before you load up! are very and welcoming. Just a pity it isn't larger and off the main road as it is a little on the compact size. Not the best tip in the world nor is it the worst. Sometimes the are happy and sometimes they are grumpy. Even and odd number car are allowed on even and odd dates. Has to bring your photo I'd along with your address proof. Its better if you have odd number plate as can dump both on 31 and 1 of every month. Bad luck for even number It's about the site was moved to an industrial estate nearby. Population has outgrown the site. Regularly have to queue 30 mins or more to get it. Gateshead council have the right idea to book a visit online and get a slot. there are brilliant. Well organised Really friendly who help with sorting things. The odd and even number system has been taken off. Very staff, back on my way in no time. What a joke of a “JOBS WORTH”. Had a home party, trying to drop off the waste in a tiny trailer so car didn’t get dirty (usually use Kirkby, but closed today) and refused and sent us to Blaydon. Hardly surprising there is so much ‘fly tipping’. Why does our council create these power crazed fools??? Will not help you at all. Just stand there and watch you struggle. But helping a lady with her grass filled bag's. Was shouting for help as I was struggling with the wheelbarrow they gave me. Which is why it's 2 stars. They didn't bother helping someone else from the public helped me with the wheelbarrow. They just ask for your ID and tell you to park. I am not sure what the point of them is anymore if they don't help. If they helped the queues would go down faster. Honestly some basic training on health and safety on how to carry things correctly. I sure that their jobs with be automated soon. This is by far the best recycling location not just because it’s in my area (and I have travelled to a few). The there go above and beyond they are lovely kind and thoughtful nothing is a bother. Paul and mark to name only 2 are regular workers there they helped me with waste disposal after mam and dad both passed only 3 months apart so had two homes to clear out. There empathy and kindness shown helped me through a very difficult and all the tip runs I had to do I actually looked forward to going down there believe it or not. They laugh and have to talk what a lovely rapport they have with many customers. Thought it only right I post a review thankyou mark and Paul xxxx The lads are spot on that work here Leaving a five star review because, today when visiting the centre, the two fellas working on site were extremely and polite, one of them was dealing with an irate member of the public who pulled in at the head of the queue while I was showing my ID and demanded to know “how you get away with this!?!” He then went on a rant while the gentleman working let him have his say and dealt with him very politely didn’t get upset or angry just explained that the entry to the site isn’t under his control ( the man was upset about the traffic being created by customers). I didn’t get the names of the workers today but they were both professional and helpful. Thank you. It’s a recycling centre! If you go on a sunny weekend day it will probably be busy and sometimes people do inexplicable things (like wait for one specific space when there are 4 others available and there is a one way system), but hey, it’s fine and never had a proper problem there… And they have stopped the odd/even number plate system 👌 no more occasional frustration of forgetting when you are and getting caught out 😜 Really staff, very efficient and always have a minute for a bit craic. Your left waiting at the gate to go in way to long subsequently cars are building up on the main road which is a serious problem as it is to congested as it is. Used this place loads over the years! My daughter and I have just made a visit here today and a lovely man named Peter came to our rescue and helped us, with all our bathroom and a 65 inch TV.
