We had dinner here when staying in the area, and good food and decent service in a very relaxed atmosphere. We prebooked (though not sure it was needed), and were offered to order a drink at the bar then find a seat, where we had table service. There were a few small chambers inside with a few tables each plus an outdoor area. They had a decent selection including several vegetarian options (the Camembert in a bread bowl was particularly excellent, which could come without meat) and several different beers/drinks on offer. Booked for Sunday lunch and with the weather being so glorious we sat outside in the garden, absolutely heavenly. Service was exceptional, traditional Sunday lunch exquisite, more than enough food on the plate and we ordered a couple of extras too that we really didn't need but still managed to eat! Just as a note, when we called to book, the guy on the phone couldn't have been more friendly and helpful as we didn't know exact numbers. Highly recommend and can't wait to go back next time we are down that way. We went there for Sunday lunch and were very impressed with the food, service and the cosy pub. Beautiful pub, the entrance blooming with wisteria and quaint garden with a large pond. It was up for sale, and the garden area had gone a bit wild but I hope the buyer keeps it operating as a pub. It's a freehouse/not Palmer's brewery with a decent enough range of beers and ciders. We didn't eat there this time but it had a good reputation in the past for its food apparently. What a great Sunday lunch had yesterday 24th at this beautiful inn. Dan and the team were just awesome in providing 21 of us with the most delightful sunday lunch of roasts and the best baguettes outside of France. The service was so smooth and food, which was preordered to help, came out so promptly and was all present had nothing but praise for everything. Big thank you all. Such lovely staff and upbeat atmosphere. I wish this was my local lol! But we were on holiday so just a get away meal, but I recommend to anyone coming around for food. Everyone so talkative and positive. And the food was amazing, exactly what we needed, thank you! Outstanding Sunday roast. Between us we had the sirloin, chicken and pork roasts, all really high quality with plenty of meat and veg. Great, friendly service....very happy and will definitely be back.
