We ordered 3 lobsters, 2 steaks and a Halibut. Lobsters were cooked tasty and juicy but only average size for £38 each. Steaks eaters were pleased with their meats and pepper sauces. My husband loves his halibut. Would be reasonable if the lobsters are more meaty I could easily eat 2 myself for that size. This bar / restaurant has had at least three different owners in my lifetime and remains consistently excellent. It has been a good few years since our last visit and the good news is it is brilliant. Seafood is the speciality of this restaurant and that is exactly what we had for both main courses (seabass on Cajun prawn stir fry and curried monkfish on crab linguine) and one starter (monkfish & black pudding with chilli jam). The other starter was black pudding bonbons in a Drambuie sauce. All courses were absolutely superb. Too full for dessert, the bill was very good value for the quality of the meal. Will make sure that it is not as long before we visit again. Excellent food and the owners area amazing! I highly recommend this place! Locals and tourists alike. Went in here one evening and had to end up walking out after 10 minutes. Nobody in the place absolute silence no music, freezing cold didn’t even have the fire on, felt like we where just sitting in a barn there’s bits of plaster falling off the ceiling and a smell of damp, there has literally been nothing done to the building since it was the creel. Shame cause the menu looked good but just couldn’t, Ended up driving into town to jewel in the crown. We had an absolutely delicious meal - fish n chips - chips were big and fluffy and crisp, and batter was so light. We took away two curries as well. Both were so tasty. I had the speciality vegetable mango curry and the vegetables were lovely and soft. We were made so welcome, and our dogs with biscuits and a bowl of water. So delighted we have found The Creel and are booked to go and again on Saturday! Thoroughly recommend Me and my family visited the creel in when staying Catterline for the weekend. The food was amazing with a mix of Indian dishes and European options. Staff were lovely and locals very friendly. Will definitely be back! As locals we are delighted that The Creel is open again. We have already eaten there a couple of times and have enjoyed the food very much. It is freshly cooked and very tasty. My husband had Goan Lamb Shank and I enjoyed the Chicken Shalimar, both with sides of rice and nan. We also had the monk fish starter - yum! The staff are friendly, welcoming and attentive. We’ll definitely be back. Thanks to all the staff. 😊 First time trying the Creel under the new ownership. Wide variety of offerings on the menu - husband had monkfish starter followed by seafood curry and I opted for the chilli chicken masala and a couple of chapatis. Both meals were excellent, good portions and reasonably priced. A mixture of classic dishes like fish n chips as well as special curries and the old favourites. We will be back - and an added bonus, very dog friendly!
