Most seem to pass by this brilliant Welsh ruin. Such a shame. Missed treat! Ok, so the up the hill is steep, but well the effort. Cadw has done a realky good restoration. AND its free!! What a great ruin to visit, nice to see most of it still standing. There are some fantastic views from the top too. There is a small free car park on the road at the bottom and a up to the which is in places but we'll it. Get place to visit for free. It states online that it closes at 4pm but I didn't see how this would close. The gate at the bottom which could be climbed easily was open past this time and people were still turning up to visit the site. Its a bit hard to find very few signs. Once you get there the parking is quite limited. Then you have about a half mile hike up a kinda hill. AFTER 2 gates you get to the there are wonderful views of the surrounding area. The itself is a ruin but it seems to have most of the lower parts of its outer walls. Inside there are some partial walls but its kinda like any other ruin castle. The road in is a narrow 1 lane with few passing places. It is a free to explore... A single track road for about 1.5 miles of the A483. Free parking for about 5 cars. A long uphill (moderate) to the castle. Stunning views from the top. Take a picnic. Free entry. Well an hour or so if you are passing. No toilets, facilities etc. Came here whilst in the area, there is a very small car park at the bottom of the lane going up to the castle, approximately 4 spaces. There is a up a very hill to get to the so not suitable for people with disabilities. The view from the is stunning and the ruins are fascinating to look at and around. It was quiet on a Sunday afternoon with only one family there. Well the trek up if you have an interest in medieval castles. What a great find! It was a bit of a up to it, but our 3 kiddies managed no problem (aged 3, 7 & 14). The ruins are very well looked after and we had a lovely time. Would thoroughly recommend! perfect for a nice stroll uphill ! doesnt take too long and its it for a nice little around the , plenty of signs placed with information , very clean didnt see any rubbish from previous visitors . parking at the bottom . nice views all round Fantastic example of a Welsh castle. incline so would say not really suitable for disabled but well the effort for the views.
