The food was OK, though this was not what I would describe as over whealming in terms of welcome, there was not much chance in getting caught up in conversation, though the chef singing Bohemian Rhapsody in the kitchen was a highlight. Decent value for money, above average food. A varied interesting menu. Food was amazing and we'll presented. The desserts are to die for. Had my usual birthday Bubble and Squeak, always worth waiting for. Pop in, you won't be sorry. We were walking along the derwent trail and called for lunch the pub had a range of drinks and homemade food which was delicious. It had an open fire and was cozy. Excellent food, beer and staff. Well worth a visit. Great pub with a full menu of pub classics to be had. Warm welcome, dog and very polite staff. Will be back, as my wife had the steak pie and it looked phenomenal. The fish and chips I had was also brilliant. Next time I'm in ilnmake sure it isn't dry January as they had a very line up on the taps. Stopped for lunch after long walk with dogs, food was and a pint Beautiful little pub with some amazing food and selection too. Comes with a lovely view and outdoor seating if preferred. Great if the weather is nice enough, as you can enjoy your food/drink with a view. Food was very poor from here we went years ago was amazing but now I wont return was overpriced for what you get aswell food. Understaffed Called in today for Sunday lunch and we were so pleased we did. We both had roast beef and it was delicious. are lovely, food came quickly and beef cooked to perfection. Vegetables were all fresh and Yorkshire puddings crispy and tasty. Credit where credit due this is a great pub with a great open fire and a lovely atmosphere. Great little find. Been planning a trip out for months and please to have made the effort. Ignore the slightly weather-worn signs outside, this place is clean, welcoming and in great nick. a and helpful and the food is delicious. First time ever I’ve had food envy from the steak and ale pie! 2nd time we have walked out of here in 8 weeks!! Stood at the bar where the sign states "wait to be seated" 2 other couples in front of us also waiting. Stood for over 5 minutes with no one in sight. No bar staff, no front of house staff. This time I decided to also ring the telephone number I googled.........you guessed it........no one came to answer. We gave it the benefit of the doubt the first time as it is our local but they have lost our custom but more important our cash which in this climate of pub closures every day is desperately needed. If anyone asks us if we recommend it, the answer is a resounding NO! Food was good, only a small issue with service, we asked for a half pint of lemonade and a pint of coke with no ice, we got 2 full pints with ice. Great food and service. We enjoyed a lovely family meal. The starter was plenty for all of us and the main courses were delicious and a big portion size. Service was and friendly. Nice place, atmosphere and foods too. Stumbled across this great pub, all of the food was home cooked and delicious. The portion sizes were great and it was reasonably priced. The menu was also large and varied. Its also a dog pub.I will definitely be returning. The food is reasonably priced, (the price difference to what we found online compared to in the pub is about a £3 increase on average) the are very friendly. The carpark is just to the right hand side of the pub. Water bowls are available for your pups and there are plenty tables to sit with your pets and if you don’t have pets and choose to, there are tables around the side. We all enjoyed a lovely meal today. Family of 9 and 2 dogs. The food was excellent, home cooked, hot and tasty. The pub itself was clean, warm and inviting with a warm fire on a cold winter’s day. Plenty of place to park. The children’s food was also of the same quality. Feel like we’ve just found a hidden gem! We will return soon! Quiet night which suited us. Food arrived quickly and was ok. Their chips are very good, however the salad side with my dish was very disappointing. Wet iceberg lettuce, a bit of shredded carrot and a quarter of a tomato.
