Beautiful old ruins with free entrance and parking spots. The at the top is breathtaking. 360 degree of the surrounding areas. The ruins of this former Casttle are located on a hilltop that give u really stunning over the landscape below. The walk up takes about 20minutes and is not challenging but hiking boots are quite a good thing to have with as the terrain is quite sharp and u definitly do not want to walk with your tenis shoes up. Also once up, if you are alone there, u can experiance some very peacefull moments here. Very much recommendable location. Fun little castle hike. 0.3km from the parking place. I reached it in 4 minutes with a brisk walk I made my visit on a very cloudy and misty day. The was still impressive, though it must be amazing in good weather. There has been a lot of wind damage to the forest, but the ruin is still standing strong. Very nice one… And the is another level! Parking not far from the castle itself, quite easy. Nice and short walk for a great of Mondsee Valley. The walk is relatively steep and rocky. On your way down stop at the chalet for a refreshment, best service we have in Austria so far. 👍 Great place! I recommend following Route 10 from the beginning - next to the lake in the Fuschl. It becomes a longer up of around 2h30 to the ruins. You can also start up, close to the ruins and then make your way to Schober. Amazing from the Ruins - you can see 3 lakes from there 👌 Tip:There is a hidden path inside the ruins, so have fun exploring! We couldn’t finish this European adventure without stopping at a castle ruin and this one was not far out of the way on our way to Linz. A lovely short and steep and breathtaking views of the valley and lakes below. A fun small castle to explore. Small hike, but a very beautiful view.
