We popped in to look at the castle and church and had a couple of pints here. Warm welcome friendly bar staff. Cracking wood burner wish we had the food as it looked lovely. Would definitely come back to try the food. Hands down my favourite Sunday roast to date. Everything is sourced as locally as they can, freshly cooked and very reasonably priced. The mussels, the beef, the veg, even down to the homemade horseradish sauce. Beautiful surroundings and attentive staff. Well worth a 5* 🥰 Will be going back to try their mid week Food was ok, but ice cream took over 20 minutes to come despite saying we were in a hurry, and espresso had no crema at all - no idea how that can be done. Response to response. Be sure to after anyone who might be hassled or upset by the has left the building. I very clearly told the member that espresso should have Crema, having explained what a Ristretto is, and being brought first an Americano & then a small espresso. She seemed insulted and disappeared. Your coffee suppliers are dishonest or incompetent to claim that any espresso should not have crema. It is a shame you can't understand English. I made a clear request to be served ice cream now. Instead you didn't even tell me you had no raspberry sorbet until 15 minutes later. I tried to leave a positive review, saying that the food was "ok", but that doesn't satisfy you. Was the fish frozen, or simply overcooked? 1st response to my review We were genuinely disappointed to see you post a critical while still sitting at your table in the restaurant, particularly after offering repeated positive feedback during your visit. Throughout your time with us at The Kilpeck Inn, our team checked in with your table multiple times. On every occasion, you and your party commented on how lovely the food was. If your actual feeling was that the food was only “okay,” we’re left wondering why this wasn’t mentioned when we had the opportunity to respond and address your concerns directly. There was no indication that you were in a rush. In fact, you approached the bar to order desserts while others at your table were still finishing their mains, telling us — in your own words — that your parents were “impatient.” This is not the same as informing us you were short on time. As for the espresso, you specifically requested an extremely small coffee — approximately half the size of a standard single. After consulting with our coffee supplier, we can confirm that a pour of that size simply wouldn’t have time to form a crema. This was not a fault in preparation. Finally, after the was posted, we had a pleasant conversation with your parents. They expressed both surprise and disappointment at the and openly shared that they had enjoyed the meal. Your father, in particular, was very complimentary. We work hard to deliver quality food and service, and when guests choose not to raise concerns at the time but instead post criticisms online without context, it’s not only unfair to our team — it’s misleading to others. We value honest feedback, but we also expect fairness. It’s a shame you chose not to speak to us directly when you had every opportunity to do so. Regards Aimee We stayed at The Kilpeck Inn from Saturday to Sunday and had an amazing experience from start to finish. Dinner on Saturday was outstanding, followed by a fantastic Sunday roast. Over the weekend, I tried the heritage tomato with buffalo mozzarella, the mussels and the hummus - all beautifully presented and full of flavour. The sirloin steak was cooked to perfection and the horseradish coleslaw it came with was a 10/10! Between the group of us, we tried most of the menu and not a single meal was a letdown. The Sunday roast was just as impressive. Beyond the food, the pub itself is wonderful. The entire team were so friendly and attentive and the service made the experience even better. There’s clearly a talented chef behind the scenes. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area - or even making the journey regardless, as the surrounding countryside is charming. Beautiful setting, lovely team and consistently excellent food. We’ll definitely be back! This is a for dining only. Pre-booked a party of 12 of us who were in the area for a bell ringing outing from Hampshire. From the booking to the actual meal itself, the pub were super efficient and excelled in every way. Great communications re our food pre-orders, a gluten issue spotted for one of our diners with an intolerance. We were seated in the private dining area of the pub which was perfect for our group size. The food arrived as ordered for everyone and was perfectly cooked, especially my Sea Bream dish which was delicious. Nicely paced, efficient service from the young waiting who excelled themselves, as did the rest of the team there. Highly recommended for couples, small or bigger groups of diners. My mother lives locally so fortunately I am able to eat here when visiting her. Visited here for dinner, I had the sea bream which was lovely but my mum had the chicken supreme dish which she didn’t finish. The sauce was very bland and felt like the chicken was sitting within a soup. However the desserts here are excellent. Also took about 30 mins before we actually ordered our mains. Probably wouldn’t rush back but was nice enough. First lunch for a group of 15 held in private dining space - it was excellent. Food was very good. serving were friendly and efficient and the atmosphere in pub warm and friendly Look forward to our next group lunch - highly recommend I had my 70th birthday meal 8 adults and 4 children. The room was set up for us all to eat together. The service was excellent and the amazing. They made myself and my guests feel really special and nothing was too much trouble. We all sent our choice of menus a few days prior and it was perfect. The food was delicious and presentation excellent.
