The coastal views from the surrounding cliffs are spectacular, especially at sunset, when the light dances across the bay. We went on bank holiday monday and though there were lots of families, it still wasnt as crowded as a normal beach! It reminded me of cornish beaches, crystal clear water and beautiful scenery. You could almost imagine you were abroad! As another reviewer said, the does clear out around 5-5:30pm, that was the case when i went too, probably because it got colder and windier and the sun disappeared too. The wind is quite strong closer to the cliffs near the sea so make sure to bring a jumper! There is free parking available on the road right next to the cove. Sheltered bay. Free parking. Great for water sport but check poster for restrictions and regulations. Cold shower head and low foot wash tap always accessible on the back of the toilet block, toilets not always open. Picnic benches with great views. Mostly sandy with some stones. Just perfect. We went a little later in the day and the was pretty empty by then. Only thing to note is the toilets will be locked a little later in the day, so if you need access to those come earlier. Beautiful and great coastline walks. Parking limited but easy out of season. Will visit again as often catching ferry to Dublin. Came across this beautiful cove after calling at South Stack Lighthouse. Enjoyed a short walk on the cliff path and marvelled at the sight of the waves crashing on the rocks. Added benefits of free parking ( it was extremely quiet when we visited on a showery windy Sunday in September) plus public toilets...but these are locked later in the day.
