We popped in yesterday to see what our favourite landlord had been up to recently and to have Sunday lunch. We had a time, the place is gorgeous and food and service excellent. We'll be back! Probably the most Beautiful Country Pub in Bristol? This pub run by a couple is tucked away in Upton, just 10mins off the ring road. It honestly has to be the prettiest pub I've seen for a long time. It really gives you a really cosy feeling... 😁 We tried the Sunday Roast, we had: 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀: - Chicken & black pudding terrine with apricot ketchup - Wye Valley asparagus, parma ham and ricotta 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻𝘀: - Topside of Beef - Chicken Breast 𝗦𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵- - Roasted Potatoes - Carrot - Red Cabbage - Broccoli - Cauliflower Cheese - Yorkie pudd 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘁𝘀: - Cheesecake with coulis - Dark Chocolate Mousse, Hazelnuts & Roasted white chocolate. The food was good and enjoyable, the cauliflower cheese and mousse were top 👌 The terrine was too, the hardest job was picking from all the delicious sound starters. Thanks so much to Julian and Nicola and the whole Upton Inn team for their hospitality 🙏 @bristolian_foodie Popped in on the off chance, the new owners have certainly got this pub to a standard, the food was great, nicely presented and very tasty. I had the chicken pie with mash and peas which is proper pub grub! Sadly I forgot to take pictures so I will have to go back 🤷 😂 deserts were really nice and it wasn’t expensive worked out around £20 pp so very happy Can’t comment on the alcohol, sadly I’ve given that up this year, the wine looked good and the beer even better, orange juice is what it is. The all very and the was really great, lots of people I haven’t seen for a while. It a pub well worth visiting. We went back for more, thanks for a evening *DOG * Such a charming place! Absolutely loved the decor and every room had a cool, unique feel. delicious pub grub, and very staff, nice outdoor space as well. Can’t wait to come back. Big car park as well! I went today for a family birthday and have to say the customer service here is outstanding, every member of has personality and can’t do enough for you ensuring our cups and plates were always full. The is very homely, it is like being a guest in someone’s home, very cosy and eclectic. In the section I was in however it was very cold! I had the beef and have to say I personally didn’t enjoy my beef but everyone else did, I am just fussy! It was a nice but the value for money was poor it was £22 for the beef roast. You could ask for more veg and roasties which was a nice touch. The gravy was very thin and I think the was plated up onto cold plates rather than warm plates as the food went cold quickly. Broccoli was hard but the potatoes were lovely. Starters were and desserts. Recommend the profiteroles! I think if there was a deal for 2 courses or something it would seem a lot better value for money! I would consider coming back but wouldn’t be in a rush to. Sunday roasting at The Upton. Delish lamb (my fav) with all the trimmings including giant potatoes, red cabbage, parsnips, carrots and good old runner beans. Every Sunday the Upton serve up beef, chicken, pork and lamb roasts plus a few other dishes for those who don’t like a dinner. As always, amazing amazing service from the team ❤️ For more food and travel reviews, check out my foodie Instagram - hungry_hesketh Had a fantastic Sunday lunch and overall experience at the Upton. were and very accommodating, in particular Nicola who was lovely. Service excellent and best we have had in a while, lamb was great. Very and lots of people there so is obviously popular! Would highly recommend!👌 Amazing food. Amazing service. Helena, lily, Julian and Mark were fabulous as always. We will back First visit since new management from walking in was greeted with a warm reception. My wife and I went on the fish night the food was amazing. We had two courses and the portions were generous and could not manage a desert. The were amazing and even had time to chat with you even though they were very busy. We. will definitely be back. Thank you for a evening. at a pub. Would recommend popping in for a drink or/and food then doing the upton cheyney circular walk. Absolutely amazing Sunday roast. 3 of us and we had one each of the beef, pork and chicken-all perfect! Very dog which was for us so we could do a walk first and then take the dog in with us. Service by everyone. Would definitely recommend and will be coming again! The Upton Inn is 100% our favourite pub in the area since Julian and Nicola took over..it was always a stunning location, but it lacked something, we couldn’t work out what it was exactly, but seeing how it is now, and how it feels, the atmosphere, the little quirks, and of course the stunning food, we now know what was missing to take it from a good pub, to a fantastic pub…it was the foresight and the knack of knowing what works and what doesn’t!! Clearly a top pub needs more than just a building and a location, it needs management along with the vision to know what to do with it, and the knowledge/experience gained, to understand what customers truly want!! 😊 So keep up the work. We may even attend a quiz night in the very near future too, which we have never done before anywhere, By the way, the cheesecake was the best I’ve ever had, 😍 and the young female pianist this weekend was excellent, and yet another idea, it definitely added a Sunday to an already relaxing time spent at The Upton Inn. With the spring now here and the summer on the way, there is no better place to chill and relax, with a wide range of drinks, and top quality food. So, with the very and attentive to make you so welcome, you will always get a truly enjoyable experience all round whenever you choose to visit this beautiful venue. beautiful interior, we went on seafood night and got the mussels, crab, fish and chips and salmon, and then sticky toffee pudding and apple crumble. everything was delicious and cooked perfectly. Brilliant pub, very good pint of beer, fantastic food, staff. Perfect in everyway, just wish it was our local!! Would highly recommend visiting - best of three local pubs we have tried. Just had lunch and it was fantastic. Service very and helpful, nothing was too much. Chef spoke to us and made recommendations. was and will of course go again. Portions and quality great. An absolute gem! One of the very few superbly ran independents still remaining. Julian, wife + team are fantastic. Food is always great, the is welcoming by the locals and + service top notch. We had been coming roughly once a month and this simply isn’t enough. Luckily for us the new entertainment (piano playing Sundays and Irish dancing) and introduction of nights like seafood Thursdays will help us make more frequent trips!!
