The train was FULL of mosquitoes in September as it is near a swamp. I killed 15 during a 30 minutes ride and still we had many bites. Wear long sleeves and take insect repellent if you go. Do you like or even enjoy narrow gauge railway trains and hollow for an adventure? Look no further - this is the place to be! Excitemen garanteed! Take your kids for a ride. Guided tour about train and peat excavating! Booking on the webpage! Famiky trip during summer, larger groups per request. Paldies par braucienu un interesantiem stāstiem! Noteikti atgriezīsimies vēl Lieliska ekskursija! Run by narrow-track historic trains enthusiasts, this place offers rides across the old peat fields to the factory few times a summer. There's much to be done yet, but the restoration continues apace. It was a particularly educative excursion enjoyed by public Beautiful place! Open on every last saturday of the current month. Worth to visit and to get a new experience. Nice The guys who organise the tours are great! I enjoyed learning about the peat extraction history! However, I think it's sad that they are forced to raise funds from the members of the public. I believe that SIA Pindstrup (owned by Pindstrup Mosebrug Denmark) must cover the costs. The Denmark' company must build a circular railway for Latvians as part of their remediation program. Otherwise at the moment it looks like a foreign business profiting off a poorer country's natural resources. I am saddened that local communities are excluded from the decision making processes. If the Latvian government gave up its high-value resource extraction and export power then Pindstrup could at least leave a positive legacy for the local people. Including rewilding, planting local species and creating habitats for rare birds, etc Super 👍🏻 Cool idea to relaunch old little train to the peat bogs and very exciting for kids. However keep in mind that most experience is around looking at train, boarding, reading about history, listening to the audio guide in Latvian. But staff is super friendly and knowledgeable and can answer questions and explain the history in other languages. Actual riding is taking few minutes. You can also take extra tours to walk around the bog. Huge respect to volunteer enthusiasts who restore, recreate and maintain the facility! Nice, short ride with narrow gauge train. Reserve ride online before or stand in live queue.
