Really recommended Bog was great. to the bog from the station is 3 km and part of this along the cars that create a lot of dust as the road is sandy. It was pretty bad experience. Thanks to those cars who drive slow, it creates less dust in the air. Went for winter hike her. Amazing views. As on bog it’s not much trees it was windy but with warm clothes and warm tea in thermos it was just perfect. Benefits in winter not much visitors. We took long 3,5 km circle till was incredible. Place you must visit when in Riga. The wooden is in excellent condition, offering a peaceful retreat and a connection with nature. It doesn’t seem to be crowded with tourists, at the end of September we were the only ones on the trail. There are two length options to choose from, 1.5 km and 3.5 km and it's definitely worth choosing the route where you'll find a halfway through. If using public transport - take a train to Tukums II station and get off at Kemeri station. From there, about 3.5 km to the start of the trail. A great in the Bog. The path is made out of wooden planks, which allows only one person in line to on it, can’t really side by side, so may not be the best for talking. The path widens occasionally to allow people to overtake you or take a rest, resting spots with seating are also available throughout the walk. There is a bigger circle and a smaller path available to take around the bog. Some wooden planks are damaged and partially submerged, so some caution is advised, but overall it is safe and not a big deal. There is a small birdwatching in a middle of a path, with a great available. Overall it is a great to take on a nice sunny day, would recommend. Visited per request of a colleague, and it was very enjoyable. Our group did the big circle, which is worth it if you have the time. You do have to in single file, but you can still have a nice conversation. Highly don't recommend testing the depth of the swamp, but you do you. Also be careful where you step since some of the planks aren't in the newest of conditions, so try not to fall as you go. It is an amazing experience. I suggest to take the long path (3.4km) as it is totally fine and the is 100% worth it. If you have the luck of having a good weather you will love the view. I can’t say how is the mosquito situation as when we went it was raining, but with the right equipment it won’t be an issue. Only the rout gets to the which is a must visit, but even that isn’t a long walk. Google directions got us to the start of the boardwalk from the train station with no issues. However parking is highly overpriced with 3€/h, such a fee in such a remote and non serviced place is insane as in any other big city it is half of the price 🤔 Two options - a shorter and loop trail. Interesting informative boards, a watchtower in the trail. Visited in winter, loved the as tearing in the raised bog was clearly visible. Only downside - wooden paths were not cleaned from snow and thus slippery.
