I’ve been here twice. First during the weekend on Saturday and second at dawn a little after sunrise 5:02am. I’d highly recommend seeing this place at dawn during spring! It’s a lot beautiful, natural, refreshing and calm! It’s still a bit cold here even in the month 3rd week of May so probably dress well! I really loved it and wanted to stayed for about a couple of hours here relaxing! The mist meeting the sunrise just creates a magical scenery with the water looking smoke-like! You should certainly visit :) Really nice walk, multiple routes that are very doable. The longer route has shelter midway at the viewing tower. Really pretty sights and interesting wildlife. Totally awesome place and just 1,5 hour from Riga by train! Definitely must go. A bit of an adventure to get to the in winter with all the snow and ice on the planks that form the path to get there. But to me, that was positive and made it interesting. Great place to visit, really good views from the tower. Some practical information: I walked there from the Kemeri station. It's about 3,8km. The bog itself is about 3.5km. The bog is a one way street so you can't back where you came from. In total I walked just about 11.5 km from Kemeri station, around the bog and back. 7.30 from Riga and 11.30 back fit perfect. I went off at Majori to checkout Jurmala on the way back. Since I went early there was barely anyone there, which was lovely cause you could hear the sound of nature. Prepare for loads of mosquitos in the forest before and after the bog starts. Well worth the 50 minutes drive from Riga. We absolutely loved it. Free but only paid 3 for the parking. Easy walk, beautiful, less than an hour walk. Take some food and drink and use the chairs to enjoy them. Calm, peaceful and beautiful. Take and longer hike (3.5km) and you won't regret it Nice bog board walk. Unfortunately no secret. There were plenty of other tourists around. The parking costs 4€ / day Well worth a visit. Absolutely stunning. We went in November covered in snow but must also be worth a visit in spring or Summer Visiting the Kemeri Bog Boardwalk and observation was truly unforgettable. The itself feels like stepping into another world—endless moss, winding wooden paths, mirror-still bog pools, and the fresh scent of wild rosemary in the air. The atmosphere was peaceful and almost magical. The highlight for me was climbing the tower—those panoramic views over the bog were absolutely stunning and made the whole trip worthwhile. Even on a cloudy day, the colors and light were beautiful. The trail is well-marked, and I loved having the choice between a shorter or longer route. It’s the perfect spot for photography, a quiet escape from the city, or simply reconnecting with nature. I would happily come back, especially to see it at sunrise or in autumn. Highly recommend to anyone visiting Latvia! Must see! You can get there by public transport. Take the regional to Kemeri station. In front of the station you’ll find signs towards the walk. Unfortunately the information available online is not very helpful/clear, so you can find the map and sign posts here. There is no entry fee but a parking fee if you come by car. Surprising place and landscapes! No animal spotted. We weren’t sure to go and worried about slippery path but it wasn’t the case luckily for us. Even got a glimpse of the sun! I read access was tricky but we managed to go by using a bolt, and asked the driver to wait two hours for us. Best to go in the morning and be back before it gets too dark. Nice scenary and landscape. Unfortunatly you need to around 45 min from Kemeri station to the park, so when you go there by public transportation make sure to book a Bolt or calculate with more time. It was a great fun hike. Had been many times in Riga but first time visiting this place. Great experience and highly recommended. The swamps have a quite unique atmosphere Such a peaceful place, especially at sunset, but in summer make sure you have bug spray with you. What a place! Stunning Bog and Boardwalk trails to a and throughout. Highly recommend. There should be a real visitor center and more infrastructure to support tourism to this exotic and unique habitat. Signage is limited. Boardwalk is a bit narrow so not good for those with limited mobility. Pet friendly, not crowded at all for a Saturday. What a place to visit and explore Latvian nature, watch a sunset or even a sunrise. But be prepared to meet mosquitoes. Wonderful experience. place. Wear sturdy shoes, the board is slippery in some areas.
