Lovely pub. Great staff and service. Marvellous open log fire to warm up by on a cold winter's evening This pub is excellent. My partner, dog and I visited a couple of times during our holiday in the area. They have a lovely selection of local ales and all of our meals were delicious. The staff were exceptionally welcoming and even accommodated our slightly cranky pooch. I would heartily recommend it to anyone looking for a and relaxed place to spend some time. I went to the George Inn for lunch a few weeks ago with my family, and we were pleasantly surprised. The mains were wonderful (especially the steak and ale pie). However, the thing that we loved the most was the homemade ice cream! I'd never tried English Ice cream that was this flavourful before. If I ever got the chance, I'd love to return to The George Inn! Proper pub, offering good food and beer. and attentive service, despite how busy they were, just prior to Christmas. Not easy to park right outside, but you can find a spot, just up the road, somewhere. Excellent evening meal here. What I call good pub grub. Homemade steak pie which was so tasty and filling. Puddings were also excellent and a good selection. I had homemade ice-cream which was perfect. Service was excellent and super friendly. Good value for money and not over priced like some places. A really lovely country pub which we would highly recommend. We stopped at this pub on a Sunday and enjoyed a roast dinner. Despite initially being informed that they were fully booked, the owner overheard and welcomed us inside, finding us a place to sit with a local. We found the staff really and helpful. The atmosphere inside was warm and welcoming with some live music. The food was delicious, a perfect roast dinner. We would definitely recommend this place. Came into this lovely little for a over night stay as in a coach driver. Was told this was the only place to eat and drink - the food was absolutely delicious, I highly recommend the steak and ale pie! The meat was sooooooo goood! The chips were perfect too, I had a brownie for dessert which melted in my mouth - they also pour a perfect Guinness, the owners greeted us very nicely, very kind people who made me feel welcome. Fabulous inn, the owner was super welcoming. We were staying in the local area and they helped us out countless times with candles and extra fire wood. Atmosphere is local and lovely, and the food night we went to was amazing! We will be back! Excellent warm place to stay, eat and drink. The hospitality was above 5 star, accomodation very warm and comfortable, great beer and the food is absolutely amazing. The beautiful is perfectly located with Wells, Glastonbury, Cheddar and Bath among other places only a short distance away. The management, staff and locals are all very and accomodating. I highly recommend! Thank you for the wonderful experience. Richard The accommodation was excellent. Large comfortable bed, large bathroom with powerful shower. The evening meal was excellent, as was breakfast. However, the real stars of the show are the hosts, Peter and Verenay. Super interesting life histories but also interested in our life stories too. They are very welcoming and the most hosts I’ve ever encountered. Locals are very entertaining, and it is clear that this small pub provides more than just food and drink. It is the hub of the village, providing morning newspapers for locals and guests, plus vital provisions like bread milk and eggs (locally sourced) as there is in store. We will certainly be revisiting this hostelry, hopefully in the summer as the outdoors area is spectacular. What an amazing find! Beautiful old pub with fabulous home cooked food and very welcoming. Our room was lovely too. Will 100% be back! Although we were not staying at the George, we ate at there 3 times and each time the meal was tasty and plentiful. The surroundings were delightful and Peter, the landlord, was very and hospitable. Making us very welcome and taking the time to talk. Went camping locally and called in for dinner. Can honestly say this is one of my favourite pubs ever. Food was exceptional, great wine, reasonably priced, and incredibly staff and locals. Can’t wait to go back!
