We just went there to have a nice afternoon at the river (without rafting). The is relatively cold (even in August), but our son went swimming nonetheless. We enjoyed the beautiful view, and our kids discovered several snakes, crabs, butterflies and fish while climbing on the rocks in the water. (This might only be possible in summertime when the is relatively low. There is a free parking spot too! Rafting is well organized, includes breakfasts, lunches, very suitable for families with children. It is possible with small children, it is wonderfully fun. Had a very quick swim, cold but refreshing. Be careful of the current. Free parking opposite Great views from the bridge over the canyon, but…. The very best bit is following the road down into the canyon to go swimming in the perfectly clear mountain water. It’s cold, like REALLY cold, but well worth it.
