Out-there Artisan

Jedburgh, United Kingdom Coffee shop

One of the Best Places To Visits in Ancrum Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. We spent a couple of hours at the Harestanes Playground and then decided to head for lunch with our two kids, 4 and 7 years. Warm welcome from the moment we arrived. Nice selection of gifts and other items by the entrance. All vegetarian dishes and child friendly. Free parking on site and a fantastic inclusive playground next door amble outdoor seating too. The place is reminiscent of Japanese style cafes and set in a pleasant location. Lots of healthy and not so healthy, mostly veggie, some vegan options. The staff never seem that happy and spend more time telling you what can't happen, rather than celebrating the that exist. We've never once felt welcome here, more that we're a hassle. We've noticed staff push takeaway before inviting you to a table. The food is nice for adults, but smaller portions, so order more than you'd usually consider. For children, there are healthy options. The raw bars get left by children (not just ours). This time we got a cake that had a topping. However, it was stuck in a bag and immediately caused the bag to deteriorate as it was a wet topping. It meant picking out bag from cake. What a find, a lovely friendly atmosphere and a huge log burner to keep us warm at this time of year. One of the best coffees I've had in the Borders and a great soup and stuffed pitta for a very reasonable price. My partner had a simply enormous pile of lovely gluten free waffles. It's a great location as there any number of walks from the car park at Harestanes and this comes as welcome reward at the end. Delightful café, set in renovated farm buildings on a countryside estate, offers more than just great food. Alongside the café is an adjoining shop filled with eco-conscious and locally sourced products too. There are plenty of scenic walks nearby, and a large play area just across the road for children. The venue and grounds are dog friendly. The menu is varied with a wide selection of both savoury and sweet options. My first choice had sold out, but I wasn’t disappointed—the ploughman’s flatbread was absolutely delicious. Later, the carrot and pistachio cake proved to be an equally tasty treat. The staff were so welcoming and helpful. I absolutely loved this place and am already looking forward to my next visit. Onsite free parking. Soup and sandwiches were good. Eton waffle was very overpriced 2 strawberries if you are lucky sliced up, strawberry sauce and 1 scoop icecream for £9. Wouldn't have those again. Staff friendly and attentive. Dog friendly. Incredibly disappointing visit after initially hearing such nice things. £7+ for a coffee and a croissant. The coffee tasted on par with McDonald's black coffee - either the beans they have on are vile, or their oat milk had gone off and split when warmed. Service was mediocre at best. Clearly a place to cash in on desperate families looking for somewhere to take their kids. Incredible food, facilities and surroundings. Especially recommended for anyone who has dietry requirements as there is a wealth of options. Excellent all round Seriously good! If you're in the Scottish Borders and are looking for a vibrant café offering a delightful menu of vegan and vegetarian dishes, Out-There Artisan is a must-visit 🤌❤️ The cafe is in a beatiful countryside setting, has a warm & inviting vibe, with a lovely courtyard and indoor seating area that reflects their commitment to quality (loved the copper coloured stainless steel cuttlery - nice touch!) The menu exclusively features vegetarian and vegan and it’s clear they've a strong purpose and passion behind their food. For lunch I had the red pepper houmus & feta filled flatbread & my partner dove into the sriracha halloumi bagel. Both dishes were not only creative & delicious, but they were also beautifully (& confidently) presented. It's strange sometimes what sticks in your head, but I got to try a bit of the bagel - the guacamoli *chefs kiss* 😋 What stood out most though, was the dedicated front of house & waiting staff. They worked tirelessly, stayed calm even though it was very busy & were super-friendly. They really made us feel welcomed and valued 👏 I want to give a mention to the products at the till too. You know, it's a small thing, but I don't recall there being any plastic! I liked the bee bombs (these wee guys need our help) and small-batch products from local suppliers 💚 I'm really glad we visited. Five stars for providing a lunch experience that aligns with greener lifestyles. Well deserved.
