Ahoy, me hearties! As I approached the establishment, me trusty hound Salty by me side, I couldn't help but mutter, "Blimey, this place be fancier than the Governor's mansion we plundered last month!" A cheery lass greeted us at the door. "Welcome to Hunters Lodge! How can we help you today?" "Arrr," I growled, "I be needin' a place to stow me first mate while I'm off plunderin'... err... I mean, vacationin'." The lass smiled, seemingly unfazed by me pirate garb. "Of course! We'd be happy to look after your dog. What's his name?" "This here be Salty," I said, puffing out me chest. "The fiercest sea dog to ever sail the seven seas!" At that moment, Salty rolled over, begging for a belly rub. "I can see he's a real terror," the lass chuckled. As we toured the facilities, I couldn't help but be impressed. "Shiver me timbers!" I exclaimed, "These quarters be nicer than me captain's cabin!" The lass nodded, "We pride ourselves on our comfortable accommodations." Under me breath, I muttered to Salty, "Don't be gettin' too used to this luxury, ye mangy mutt. It's back to ship's biscuits and grog when we set sail again." Salty wagged his tail, clearly not sharing me concerns. When it came to leave, I found meself gettin' a bit misty-eyed. "Now, ye be good, Salty," I said gruffly. "No mutinies while I'm gone, ye hear?" The assured me they'd take good care of him. As I turned to leave, I overheard one worker whisper to another, "Is it Talk Like a Pirate Day already?" "Nay," replied the other, "I think he's just... eccentric." With a final "Arrr!" I swaggered out, secretly pleased to have found such a fine port for me canine companion. As I set sail in me car, I couldn't help but think, "Yo ho ho!. Salty be livin' like a king while I'm off... err... relaxin' on the high seas!" My have been staying at Hunters Lodge for 10 years and my cats for 2 years. It was a great addition when the cattery was up and running. The care and attention from the is of the best quality, as are the kennels. My rescue dog is not the easiest to manage, and not every would take him on. So I cannot thank Richard enough for his help with this situation. Any special requirements and medicine giving has never been a worry and my get so excited as soon as we pull onto the driveway, always a reassuring sign they love their stay here. Yvonne always greets you with a smile and a chat and keeps a check on things. I could never consider taking my fur kids anywhere else. Huge thank you from Lesley, Coco, Jet, Dexter and Darcy The team at Hunters Lodge are absolutely fantastic! They’ve helped me enormously with my very anxious and fearful rescue dog. They're all so caring, knowledgeable and compassionate towards both and their owners. Their communication is great and always happy to answer any questions. I was very worried leaving him the first but they offer a very professional and personal so you have such peace of mind that your pet is in safe hands with them and your dog really enjoys their there. When I was first looking for a kennel, I just loved how down to earth and helpful the were and that there are lovely huge fields for the to enjoy in a quiet countryside setting. My dog’s stayed there a few times now and really bonded with one of the team members, Millie, who deserves a very special thank you!! My dog absolutely adores her and she’s been beyond incredible with him – so patient, calm and caring, really working to build his trust in humans and reassure him that he’s safe. On his most recent stay she even got him out with other in a group and he had the best (a first for him)! He’s come back like a different dog, more relaxed and with a real boost to his confidence. There simply aren’t enough stars to give Hunters Lodge and I’ll always recommend them! Thank you for all your dedication to looking after our pets like they’re your own and for providing such a brilliant service. We'd like to pass on our thanks to everyone involved in looking after Toby and supporting him to grow in confidence with people and dogs. Our holiday, for 13 nights is the longest we've ever left any of our and for Toby, especially was a huge feat! It's only been possible because of your support and approach to him (and us)!. We are exceptionally grateful for the updates and reassurance that enabled us to "switch off" as much as possible and hope the flowers and chocolates go some way to showing our gratitude. Toby stayed in the VIP (he's used to his own space, the radio and less "dog chatter"). He takes his bed, toys, food and snacks. During his stay he attended and came home having been washed too! We're so pleased we've found Hunters Lodge! My two kitties Tillie and Daisy stayed here for a week from 16th Oct 24. They were very well looked after, the lady who looked after them was great and even found the to give them their Licky Licks. I called them while I was away in Spain, to see if they were okay and the lady who answered knew exactly which cats I meant and was able to reassure me straight away. When I collected them at the end of their week they were looking very well and healthy. They’d never been away from home before and are only one year old (sisters) so they were very excited when we got home. I was pleased they had been so well looked after. Excellent friendly and great facilities our dog loves it 👍🏻👍🏻 Our dog came back with cough confirmed by the vet’s 2 days after we picked him up. We called the owner to let him know incase it spread as these things happen. He was rude and dismissive even putting the blame on us say he could have brought it in even though our dog is vaccinate. Won’t be using again. We can not thank Yvonne, Richard and the rest of the team at Hunters Lodge enough. Our 2 Sammies, Casper and Louie are lots of work and we were very worried they wouldnt cope in yet alone kennels, but we are soo pleased to say after several months of regular visits and the occasional sleep over they have just returned home after their 12 day holiday. We received regular updates from Yvonne about how they were and pics of them out playing with the other guests. All the team at Hunters Lodge have now given us the confidence and trust to leave the boys knowing they are in the best hands. We’ve been using Hunters Lodge for 18years and cannot fault the friendly, professional service. Our current two can’t wait when we drop them off and they both go off with their tails wagging. They always come home smelling clean. My dog stayed for 14 nights over christmas, when my husband booked her in a couple of months before, he was told that the cough vaccine was not necessary which we were surprised at knowing how serious it can be, after leaving the lodge on the 28th Dec the only other dog mine has been around is my mum's dog who is 10 years old and vary rarely leaves the house now a day's, On Friday he was diagnosed with cough and is now on a course of anti biotics, after speaking with my onw vet i have been assured that as long as my dog has no symptoms (which she doesnt) it is likely that she is the carrier and has obviously picked it up from the probably from other animals that have not be vaccinated, please be mindful of this if you are thinking of leaving your animal at any kennels/boarding lodges as cough is very serious and a simple vaccine nasal spray can easily be given at a very reasonable cost from your vet and help prevent the spread of this severe , very rapid spreading infection . i would like to add as well that all the belongings that we took for our dog ie bedding, coats, brush, bowls, nothing returned with her, only the coat that she was wearing when we picked her up, we was told that nothing had been washed and we would need to return at a later date to collect it. My 1 year old male Labrador attends here at least once per week. He previously attended a Northampton but they do not accept intact male once they turn 6 months old. Hunters does not discriminate and caters for male intact with no issue. This was a huge plus for us as we wanted him to be able to socialise with other and have a large space to run. Hunters provide a huge paddock for the and their open from 7:30-5:30 on weekdays and Saturdays 7:30-5. Price per day is competitive and in line with other services across the county (we know - we have enquired across every service!). This was the with the biggest run around space and most suited to our Labrador who needs that space to run and experience that free-reign adventure. It’s always hard to know your dog’s true feelings of something and you rely on their communication and body language to know. When I say “Hunters” in the morning, my dog runs around in circles excitedly and gets the zoomies! When we get into the car, he waits patiently until he can sense that we’re near. This is when he cannot contain his excitement and his tail is wagging and he starts making whining and yipping noises (with excitement!). When we arrive, Buddy is collected by one of the to which he happily approaches them and doesn’t even look back at us. After a busy day at daycare, Buddy will be exhausted from his extended playtime. He greets us with excitement and we know he’s had a good day, made friends and been treated as one of the Hunters family. If you are a dog parent who treats your dog as your child, you know that Hunters understand that and value the importance of your dog in your life. We think of as our dog’s nursery and school experience and we know we can trust them to communicate about his day and look after him well. The booking system is easy, effective and you don’t ever have to wait long for confirmation. As long as you hold good communication with Hunters, they can accommodate any needs or queries that you have. We know that Hunters also offer a and we would feel at peace knowing our dog was in their care. We have not used the but intend to in the future. My dog LOVES Hunters and all the there so we LOVE Hunters too. My German Shepherd dog has a great at Hunters Lodge! He regulalry attends day care and has also stayed at the boarding kennels. He is very excited to greet the and trots off with them quite happily without giving me a second glance! He has attended day care ever since he was 12-weeks old. It's been brilliant socialising for him with many other and a mix of people too. He is very well cared for. Because of an unexpected hospitalization, we contacted the Hunters Lodge just before closing time, and they kindly accommodated our dog. The team was incredibly accommodating! The were impeccably clean, and the was friendly, showing genuine love and interest in animals. The supervised play sessions for the were excellent, and most importantly, our dog was pleasantly tired out when we picked her up. There's nothing to dislike about their service. I wholeheartedly recommend them!
