Grab a pint of cider or beer with a roll and take it all in. Whether a local or a weary traveler coming off the road the staff and atmosphere make you feel right at home. The pub and the staff were absolutely lovely, and we really enjoyed sitting outside while the chicken was pecking from place to place, BUT the pictures were taken moments before someone’s dog chased and bit the chicken, putting feathers everywhere. People got really upset, myself included and unfortunately the dog owner was very slow and incredibly rude as well, so please please be more mindful of your surroundings and always keep your dog on a lead!!! Quite literally one of the best pubs in England and it has been run by the Macaulay family for over 250 years. The landlord and staff are always welcoming, and the beer is always on form. Grade 2 listed interior, beer garden. And a big selection of rolls are available with generous fillings. This pub is national treasure, you must visit. Incredible village pub from another century. There is a beautiful garden area where you can sit and enjoy your tipple and their homemade sandwiches. What a wonderful little pub with polite and courteous staff and landlord.
