Inside and outside seating, really scrummy food, dog friendly (in and out) and helpful, friendly and knowledgeable staff. Highly recommend. Oh did I mention cakes? Service was initially disappointing, we stood for a good few minutes being ignored by staff members before being shown to a table. Once seated, service was much quicker and the food was plentiful and delicious, and rather pricey. I noticed tables were not cleared particularly quickly though, staff regularly returned to the kitchen with empty hands even though there were tables covered in used pots. Not a good habit in my opinion. The environment was nice enough, if a little on the dark side with the decor needing a bit of a rethink. Unappealing pictures (for sale) we're dotted randomly on the walls and did not reflect a cohesive aesthetic. Food was really good though, great choice and lots available for vegans which makes a nice change. Fabulous Selection of dishes including vegetarian and vegan. The staff are extremely knowledgeable, helpful and willing to adjust any dish to suit lactose intolerance, diabetes and allergies. Also the gift shop is second to none and reasonable prices in all areas. Love it, love it, love it. Ordered an extra hot oat latte (£4.00) received a mug full of foam and when I took it back was told that's what happens when its extra hot, didn't look at the coffee to see the problem, offer to top it up, remake, nothing just felt dismissed. The 2 stars are for the cake which was lovely. Plenty of other coffee shops in and around Whitby who know how to make coffee with oat milk so won't be returning. It was a fab shop but we when to visit it on our weekend break it was closed down. Such a Shane I had a long shopping list. I came here last year and bought quite a few items, including a large ram! Also had a lovely veggie breakfast. Back for a few days in Whitby now (Nov 2023) and can't wait to come back here. Highly recommend. Had a recent visit. Had been told about this tea room from a friend but when we arrived it had been apparently changed as no more serving breakfast and seating area half original size. Still very nice, sandwich and cake lovely. Unfortunately my cup of tea was a teabag in cup, not nice really something I really don't like at all, always think I'm in some takeaway. So I would however invest in some one person tea pots, as presentation means a lot.
