Nice down from the pub. Beautiful spot through the forest down into the beach! 🌲 🌊 I feel like such a grump- I was excited for this and it didn't live up to expectations. The woodland path is slippy, boggy and VERY steep as you follow it down from the car park (pay and display at the inn, cash only). Entrance to the carpark is practically vertical. Beach is all rocks- not a beach to run and play on. The was a highlight and I had a little dip 💦 but then headed back up. Wouldn't encourage bringing dogs or little ones (my dog enjoyed the woods but lost footing on the rocky beach) Very slippy on way down today as it is January. The stone 'steps' get quite tricky when muddy. There was a trail run on so it was quite busy. The was lovely if not spectacular and quite a good flow today. The woodland was brilliant. Very enjoyable l. The pub at the top well worth a visit. The was fairly easy, could do with a couple more sign posts Not great if you have a buggy or find it difficult to walk. Great for the dog too Definitely recommend.. Lovely place not the easiest to find or navigate through the pebbled walkways and stairs not for the faint hearted I would say if you do go make sure you take the extra time and take it slow but well worth it Wife wanted to visit a waterfall, so we came here. Nice down, gets a bit slippery on the rocks so don’t try the in Crocs 😁 A fabulous photo of Heyburn Wyke was featured in the Yorkshire Post 26th July. It was classed as an artist's hidden gem. A secret on the coast where you can swim. You follow a winding track through the woods and suddenly the sea opens out in front of you. The small river falls dramatically into a small pool on the beach..........There's no beach. It's all pepples the size of a dinosaurs eggs. Ankle breakers!!! I didn't really expect a any dramatic due to the present climate, it was a very weak waterfall. Proves printed news & photos are misleading.Swim in the pool, not now or ever before. The visitings dogs that day enjoyed it. The path to follow down hill all the way to see the sea the sea & pepples is treacherous.Negotiating the rough path with misplaced steps in areas. Not good for folks that arn't agile it's very tricky for the fit too. And don't forget you have to go back up. We only stayed an hour but it felt like hours. We paid for a full day £5. Some visiting folks said on their way back up.....never again. Me neither. I did however get a photo stood at the top in a slow moving pool of water and took an idyllic photo. Hense the 2 star. And there is a pub near the car park to revive you. But I would rather forget my visit it was very hard going. It was a long uneven I didn't actually get to see the as I started finding it difficult to walk. I got to a point where I could see the beech which was pebbly looked quite nice.
