The Forge Inn

A lovely hotel inn outside of Whitby a short drive from the local Park and Ride. We arrived a bit early and whilst the inn was closed, as we didn't pickup a message earlier in the day. The staff were having an early meal, but still opened up for us. We had a lovely introduction to the inn. Our room overlooked fields of sheep and was very quiet. Breakfast was cooked to exactly how we wanted and was high quality. We didn't go to the bar or restaurant downstairs as we had already booked to dine out of the area. We would definitely stop here again. From the moment i arrived at The Forge for my three-day short break i was wrapped in warmth and hospitality. Nestled in the picturesque village of Aislaby, just a stone’s throw from Whitby, this country pub /hotel is a true treasure. Each morning began with a breakfast that could rival any five-star hotel. The full English was cooked to perfection and was simply wonderful, the perfect start to my day. Dinner at The Forge was nothing short of brilliant. The menu is packed with comforting classics and creative dishes, all beautifully presented and bursting with flavour. The Sea Bass on night one, the duck breast on night two, finally lasagne on the last night – wish I could have stayed longer to try the whole menu. My room was immaculate, cozy, and thoughtfully designed. It was quiet, restful, and felt like a true retreat, a good night sleep was had on each of my three nights The entire team—from the bar staff to the kitchen crew—were the beating heart of The Forge. Friendly, attentive, and always welcoming, they made every moment feel personal. A special shout-out to the chef—give him a star! His creations were exceptional, and his passion shone through in every dish. No matter how busy it got, the service was always delivered with a smile and genuine care. I am already planning a return visit in more summer months, and we’ll be recommending The Forge to everyone i know. If you’re heading to North Yorkshire, this is the place to stay, especially to eat, and unwind. Myself and a colleague visited the forge for an evening meal, the first thing we noticed was there was a large group of customers waiting for the restaurant to open, after dining there I can see why. The food was amazing as were the friendly staff, all set in an idyllic country building surrounded by nature, a must for everyone, we will definitely return. Staying locally and saw this place on Google search. What a find! Great value, great food, great service, proper portion sizes, and really friendly staff. Dog friendly and great atmosphere too. Highly recommend this place! We'll definitely be back. The beef lasagne and blueberry cheesecake were spot on. Thank you. Had a lovely evening with a gorgeous meal of cottage pie and steak and mushroom pie. Loads of veges and reasonable prices. We stayed for the Tuesday night 9.00pm quiz and had a great time. The staff were super friendly, helpful and attentive.
