Our first visit to a pub since lockdown eased for a proper meal and I wasn't disappointed. The service was excellent, as was the food and the very friendly. The bubble and squeak starter with perfect poached egg on top, beautiful and the beer battered cod, yummy. Garden is and so is the interior. You could say that I had forgotten what it was like to go out and that's why I gave it 5 stars, NO I GAVE IT 5 STARS BECAUSE I COULDN'T FAULT ANY DETAIL. Excellent, see you again Had our wedding reception here 30 years ago and thought it would be nice to go back and have lunch. Didn't disappoint at all. Some bits have changed obviously but still a pub and great food. make you feel very welcome. pub with great menu. Food has flair and creativity while being traditional. Come here for the Sunday roast and cauliflower cheese. Very attentive service. Historic location and cosy atmosphere. We enjoyed a wonderful Sunday lunch here today with family. The were so and attentive. Food was fantastic and served promptly. The decor is outstanding. rustic beams and multi level dining areas. Definitely one of the most interesting and beautiful places I’ve had food before. All the Sunday lunches were delicious and desserts were top notch. We will recommend and return for sure. Thank you OQH. Have been here several times this year and every time it has been excellent. Food is lovely, selection of drinks, both alcoholic and non alcoholic. Atmosphere is cosy in Winter and has a wonderful garden in summer. Parking can be a bit fraught so get there early and plan to walk a bit from available side roads. Well worth the walk and the walk will let you digest some of the most amazing food! This particular trip we had the gnocchi, which is one of, if not the best I've ever had and the sea bream...both are recommended. Absolutely new year's day family meal, food was so good Service was another level, took at chance when chatgpt said this was a family pub half way between the two sets of family, and it paid off. Would definitely recommend We go to the Old Queens Head a lot & it never fails to deliver. The food is always superb (though not cheap) & the team there are helpful & friendly. The atmosphere is great - It is always buzzing with people. A great place for a few drinks or a delicious dinner. Frankly the best local pub one could wish for, amazing all full of beans and always smiling, couldn’t do more to make your stay more welcome. Beautiful garden space with plenty of space for your pooch to bimble about.. range of drinks to satisfy anyone buds.. the locals are equally just as friendly, a wonderful welcoming bunch of peeps…. Chin up! Cheers! 🍻🍻🍻👏🕺 Visited The Old Queens Head and had a brilliant experience. Even though it was extremely busy, the atmosphere was warm and welcoming. A special shoutout to Maddy, a member of who went above and beyond – she was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made us feel right at home despite the rush. Her exceptional service really made a difference. The food was absolutely beautiful – full of flavour and clearly made with care. Everything from start to finish was spot on. Can’t wait to come back again! Great team Great food Mum is allergic to life & they ensured that all her needs were catered for I came for a roast after moving nearby recently & it was so we came back & had some small plates to share & pudding (highly recommend the brownie)! Cameron looked after us like Royalty! This was such a nice Pub!! The were all smiling and greeted us on entry, they were happy to assist us in everything we wanted and the entire time. Atmosphere was lovely. Will definitely be coming back here for another date night and other events! Also best food i’ve ever had at a pub- definitely the best chips we’ve ever had, cooked to perfection. cosy pub restaurant, drinks prices are reasonable too. They have a log fire and the ambience is fab! Very bar staff! Unpleasant Experience with the Landlord I visited The Old Queens Head on 8th February and was looking forward to a nice evening. However, my experience was marred by an unfortunate incident with the landlord. During my visit, I was unexpectedly accused of being a "racist." This accusation was not only untrue but also quite distressing. I felt singled out and unwelcome, which significantly impacted my enjoyment of the evening, this accusation was formed after I said “how are you” in Punjab to a Punjabi gentleman, who kindly responded “I am good” in Punjab and proceeded to them give me a high five on his way past. I believe that everyone should feel safe and respected in a public space, and this experience left me uncomfortable, especially as I got physically attacked by the landlord who tried to throw me out, screaming get out of my pub whilst pushing me. I hope the management can address this matter, as it detracted from what could have been a pleasant visit. While I appreciate the pub's atmosphere, I am hesitant to recommend it based on this experience. Thank you for taking the time to read my complaint. We had a very delicious roast beef lunch today. Excellent yorkshires and very beef ( we were asked how we liked it cooked, always a sign.)We also ordered the cauliflower cheese which was tasty and decent portion ( we shared it). Will certainly return as very enjoyable time. Within the top 3 bests roasts. Very attentive service, great value for the amount of food you get and dining area also. very and accommodating (shoutout Merlin and Mal, you’re fab) Amazing pub. Food was fab. Service also amazing. I love this pub! It is the heart of Penn and every time I go in it feels like a cuddle. Every menu they create is incredibly delicious but they always keep the AMAZING bubble and squeak which is the best thing ever. Jack and the team are the best!
