What a difference Friends of Stonehouse have made in the last few years. Bandstand refurbished, memorial fountain refurbished, new paths and planting. A great community led to be proud of and always lots of summer events on. Lovely to visit on a cold but beautifully clear day. Very steep slopes but this leads to fantastic views all around. Wil be complete when the bandstand is finally renovated. Great place to chill out 😁 Well maintained, popular public park. Located on a steep hillside. At the top end there is a seldom used football/ rugby pitch and a child's play area. At the bottom a larger play area. Friends Of Stonehouse organisation contribute greatly by organising events and occasional litter pick ups. There is a small, historical band stand which is currently, 2022, undergoing restoration. Up until the late sixties it had one of the longest slides/chutes in Britain which was presumably removed for health and safety reasons. The is very popular with dog walkers. I walk through this when I visit family in Stonehouse. It's a lovely with splendid views and is well cared for Stonehouse has some of the most amazing views I have ever seen. There is lots to do for of all ages in the main and a fantastic woodland for those that want to explore. This is our local we love taking our dog for walks around here it's great to have this on your door step. Fergus loves it and so does his little friend jeff they love there walks here. Nice wee to take the kids, the bandstand has been restored but the childrens play is in a bit of a sorry state, there's also been a landslide which has closed off the pathway to the adjoining park. A really nice with plenty for kids. Lots of character, with the hillyness, views, bandstand, different play areas etc. In need of a little TLC but generally well-maintained. Beautiful vives and nice walks I grew up playing & exploring this park, creating great memories being spent down "the water" with friends. Nowadays the main at the tennis/basketball court has a mix of exercise apparatus which are fun for kids. There is an oval ash running track which is a pleasant walk around, as long as it hasn't rained in the last 12 hours in which case it may be water-logged at areas. Young have two areas with swings and other things to play on. The first is at the top of the , as you enter the by car just on the right. The second is at the bottom of the (continue past the main entrance ) where there's a small car park. The second is more suited to older children. There are other chutes within the area, just watch out for water and dirt on these or it'll be a full wash going on when you get home 🫣. The Bandstand has been done up lately so is handy as a shelter. It's a decent for a visit and fun place for to hang out and enjoy an afternoon.
