In fact, most people don't even know that is a CRIME in Italy to run over animals, AND not to stop, AND check on the hurt animal AND call the relevant authorities. This is a true shame for the animals and doesn't honor the awesome friendly generous and kind people from the area, but unfortunately they don't know the law neither there are much road signs around, unfortunately ... A more attentive look by local government would make a great impact.
