Not the country pub we were expecting. Though I didn't check the menu first. Predominantly Indian cuisine, so be aware of that. Fishcakes we're a bit hard, prawns too. The soup was not enjoyed, sadly. The chips were pretty good and the grey salad. We didn't comment, just been to a funeral and nobody wanted the fuss. Loos we're pretty poor too. It has so much potential but it didn't hit the mark for us. Very nice food, impeccable service from friendly staff. Will definitely go again. Staff are very polite professional and efficient. The four of us all had different currys and they were all amazing. We thoroughly recommend eating at this pub..we will definitely be going back. 10/10 Wow! Fantastic pub. We'll be back I dropped into the White Horse some weeks ago, after diverting from very slow M5 tail back. Since then I have been back three times with friends and family. I have found the place a gem. Very nice food and friendly, helpful staff. The view is superb and the whole experience is really relaxing. Food prices are reasonable and the work from the kitchen is first rate. The Indian cuisine options are authentic and cooked by chefs who clearly know what they are doing. At the same time, the pub classics like steak and chips are spot on, so something for everyone. Great place! proof is in the pudding. Come enjoy you won't be disapointed. Visited for lunch on a bank holiday Monday. We sat on the outside covered terrace area, views on a sunny day. Food was delicious, lots of choice including burgers, pub classics and Indian curries. Good vegetarian options too. Will definitely be returning, thank you for a afternoon! What a afternoon we had. Beautiful location, amazing outdoor eating area. Large menu, and food was excellent. Owner was working just as hard. My only thing I would say is there were a couple of members of staff who werent really enjoying what they do. Didn't really interact with us and we're a little grumpy. But it was busy and incredibly hot so that could have been the reason. Would 100% go again. First time at the white horse today, food was incredible and value for money. Service was fantastic. We chose to try The White Horse for an evening meal on our return journey from Bristol to Gloucester, following a recommendation. The signage and entrance from the A38 is not very visible but once you locate the entrance there is a level large tarmaced car park with an amazing view over the Forest of Dean and severn vale. Unfortunately we were unable to take advantage of the fabulous outdoor terrace (due to time of year), so proceeded to enter the pub whereupon we were warmly welcomed by a very pleasant and polite member of staff and swiftly chaperoned through to the (smart and spacious) restaurant. The menu provided a (spoilt for) choice of English and Indian cuisine and after careful consideration, we went for chicken jalfrazi and Chicken biryani, which were both equally enjoyable and absolutely excellent in terms of both quality and quantity, to the extent that we took half home and ate over the following few days! There is also a choice of English homemade desserts and Indian inspired ice cream showcased in a refrigerated cabinet, which we plan on taste testing during our next visit. We had such a meal here last night with family. The place is gorgeous, they have a good play area for kids and had a bouncy castle out. The outdoor seating area is beautiful with a gorgeous view and the food was incredible, we opted for curries and they were so flavourful and well presented, great value for money. friendly service too. We will definitely be returning and recommending to others! A Great Meal! , relaxed Atmosphere, Good Service & Good Surroundings, 9 of us meet up for an impromptu family get together at lunchtime. There was only one minor criticism, 2 of us had the chicken madras, the portion of cheapest item on the plate, the rice was so small! I think when you have a curry its nice to have a nice bed of rice! Apart from this minor criticism, You will definitely see us again! I will recommend the White Horse to my many friends & family.
