I'm only reviewing the food as I was not staying at the hotel bit. The bit has a carpark next to the side of the Esso service station. Staff were very helpful and pleasant people. Food here is your basic builders fry ups. That's not meant to be a complaint though I'm just saying what they have. It's not like one of those places you get some poncey goats cheese and rose petal falafel etc. Basic food and the view outside is really nice. Great café a must is the Northumberland breakfast, unfortunately this time of visiting the chef was ill so shut. Was still able to stay in locked car park overnight. This has fantastic views of Lindisfarne. There is a pub next door which serves food. Will definitely call again. We popped in here for on the way down to Middlesbrough from Edinburgh, we got a Latte and English and it was delicious, service was great and the owner was really friendly and chatty, like a lot of people said it behind the petrol station and easy to miss but the signage on the main road pulled us in 👏👏👏👏👏 Campervan stay overnight which was free if we made a purchase in the cafe. Great level parking, perfect location, secure, hardly any noise from the A1, garage or pub. Toilet in the garage up until 10pm. Owner is a great guy, very welcoming and we had the full English this morning which was very good and he makes an excellent cuppa tea! 2 mins from Lindisfarne causeway. Top welcome and service! Thanks Stayed here to visit Holy Island & loved it. Shawn was very friendly and helpful throughout. There is a direct bus from the train station but it has very few runs in a day so, plan accordingly (Buses 477, X18 & X15). Spacious & has an amazing sunrise view. WC accessible toilet & bed (pls know its very basic bunk beds with no sheets). Kitchen with a freeze, microwave, kettle, tea-coffee & other necessary amenities. There is a laundry machine at the filling station which is also the bus stop. Americans here. Rented a car to drive from Edinburgh, Scotland to Newcastle, England to catch the ferry over to Amsterdam. We drove the beautiful coastal route along A1 and stopped for a snack at the petrol station. But then we saw this little and decided to come eat here. So delightful! The owners were so kind. The food was fresh and delicious. The portions were huge and the prices were great for the amount of food served. It was clean, inviting, and very welcoming to foreigners. Even gave us come wonderful local history while we visited. Best road trip pit stop this American has ever made! Excellent stop off for tea and bacon sandwiches...was lovely. Just at side of the motorway. Very nice staff too xxx Will call again xxxx Rooms weren't clean. No bedding provided unless you paid an extra fee for a questionable sleeping bag but even then, no sheet for the mattress. Kitchen poorly equipped. No dish soap or hand soap. Sean is great and so is the (good breakfast). However, if you stay at the bunkhouse just be aware that it’s very basic and bedding isn’t provided. 14 of us stayed so we had the whole place to ourselves but there was no sanitary bins (or any bins full stop), no sheets for the beds, no liners for the shared sleeping bags, the mattresses were very old, full of springs and very stained. Stayed in a lot of very basic accommodation but this one needs a little fore warning. Excellent experience at Eat and Sleep Lindisfarne. The rooms were clean and well-maintained, the staff was welcoming and helpful, and the location is ideal for exploring Holy Island. The on-site café served a great breakfast, and shared facilities like the kitchen and lounge were well-equipped. A comfortable and affordable stay, highly recommended for solo travellers or anyone visiting the area. Genuinely and sincerely one of the worst hostels we’ve stayed at. Beds were extremely uncomfortable, it wasn’t made clear we needed to pay for bedding, the room was really dark and hot, and the whole place had a really odd vibe to it. The wasn’t open, which we had been relying on and were lucky that there’s a hotel round the corner. Shaun did let us store our bags, and then check in late-ish by giving us a key, which we appreciate. But this bit of hospitality didn’t make up for the overall low quality of the place. To top it off, there was a human sized cardboard cut-out of a police officer in the reception area, which Shaun then moved to being outside of our room facing us whilst we were asleep, giving us a fright when we opened the door in the morning. When asked about this, he just seemed to find it funny. Incredibly weird behaviour - if you can stay anywhere else I would. Judging from his responses to other feedback, I would just recommend Shaun finds a new line of business. It doesn’t seem like hosting guests is for him.
