Pub internally has a great cosy feeling of a proper local but not at the expense of welcoming strangers. Unfortunately the "cabin" rooms are well past their best, what maintenance has been carried out over the years has been on the cheap and its a shame as it really shows. I dont think it would take much to reinvigorate the rooms, carpet, paint, sort out the bathrooms with tiling instead of caravan plastic paneling? I appreciate everyone's belts are tightening these days, but you can only give so many points for hot shower and generally clean. It's just desperate for a refurb. A gem this one. I stumbled across this pub after a visit to the Duddo stones. The service was positive and helpful and the food was delicious! If your visiting attractions in the area this is a great place to eat. This is our 3rd visit in 2 weeks and we have been so impressed with the menu, staff,quality of food and just general hospitality. Sunday lunch is delicious and tonight we had garlic mushrooms which I know sounds boring but it was really good. The seafood crock is truly amazing so thumbs up to the chef. we can definitely recommend this gem of a place for what ever occasion…. now home for a sleep , thank you red lion we will be back soon 😊 The best Sunday lunch we’ve had out in a long long time, delicious pork and beef and all the trimmings as good as you can have, with broccoli cheese, braised red cabbage, carrot and swede mash, and incredible roast potatoes. Sticky toffee pudding also incredible. Great portions. Highly recommend! We went for a celebratory meal and every single one of our 7 people group had delicious startes, mains and desserts. The chef/s made the most delicious meals and the serving staff were the right mix of beimg attentive whilst leaving us to enjoy our own company. Superb meal. Would heartily recommend this place for an evening meal.
