Fantastic place to trek and hike around. Stunning views in the summer and ski resort in the winter. During summer the temperature is very moderate even in days that are normally very hot in Skopje. Therefore this is a great place to escape the heat and enjoy nature. I visited it for the first time and I am satisfied. I traveled 1 hour from Skopje to the Popova Shapka ski center. I arrived at 8:30a.m. on sunday morning and the lots were full so I had to go back and park on the side of the street. The lot is dirt and has mud, so you need to be careful when or walking past it. There are 3 lots and all of them are mud. I find that is a very big problem here and it doesn't have the capacity to accommodate so many cars. Already at 8:30a.m. there is a crowd in the morning. Best to avoid weekends in winter because of the crowds. There are several ski slopes, cafes, sales of ski equipment, a ski school, a church and a large cross. In most cafes, Albanian music is played, instead of Macedonian and foreign, which I think is not appropriate for a ski center in Macedonia. During the day, but also in the evening, parties are often held. Worth a visit. Very beautiful mountain ski resort from nature aspect, ski stages, hotels, villas and lodges. Very beautiful sunrise and sunset. BIg negative point for human careless, littering and desorganizaton. Not much available at the summit. There are a lot of rental facilities and many food options. The highlight of theis place has got to be the Orthodox churh on one of the peaks It’s a great ski resort with amazing views. All the lifts were open on Dec 22 and we could see the whole valley and surrounding cities. The only downside is that they don’t have a proper site. People need to park their cars alongside the main road. Recommending to go early. Popova Sapka is gorgeous in winter as well as in summer... However, avoid weekends due to large crowds and limited parking. Arrive early if driving, as you might need to park along the roadside. Despite this, it’s a fantastic spot for skiing! This is the sight that greets you at the entrance of the ski resort, and unfortunately, the tracks are no better. There’s a clear lack of respect for nature, with litter scattered everywhere. The absence of proper etiquette and responsible behavior is evident, both on the tracks and in the surrounding areas, which are overcrowded with people who aren’t even there to ski, however they are on tracks making it dangerous for everyone.
