The castle itself is the best ‘ruin’ that I’ve been to (and I’ve visited lots!), you can walk within the walls! Walking along the battlements and up narrow spiral tower stairs, you can almost feel what it must have been like living in, and defending the place. From first words Sue brought it to life!!! My imagination was taken back to the real life experiences of defending the gate, the hustle and bustle and noise of castle life... This is everything a day out should be. Highly recommended 5stars are not enough. Very interesting place to visit and our tour guide, Gareth, had a wealth of knowledge in his stories about the history of the castle. I love a castle, and if that has Tudor connections then all the good. You don’t get a better Tudor connection than the Birthplace of Henry Vii and the very start of the Tudor Dynasty. (Did you know that The Normans were originally vikings? I do now!) The little cafe was great, I had the best caramel flapjack of my life! We spent almost 4 hours there and loved every minute. The last 30 minutes was spent in the Heraldry centre in the gift shop, I HIGHLY recommend doing this. My maiden name is unusual and I’ve never seen it before, the lady there (I forgot her name, sorry) was brilliant and the information she gave me was very interesting. I even purchased the coat of arms! (£24.99 for an A3 size with all of the information) I had an absolutely brilliant day. The itself was wheelchair accessible which was excellent but obviously if you want to go into the and up the towers you need to be able to walk. The stairs are treacherous but thankfully I was having a good ability and pain day so I did manage it with lots of time and help. (Wear good shoes!) Pembroke is an absolutely fantastic place to spend a few hours. The rich hits you as soon as you through the gates, and there’s no shortage of things to read, look at, and learn. The is full of fascinating rooms to explore and impressive turrets to climb, each offering a new perspective and a sense of adventure. One of the highlights is the free guided tour, which is both informative and entertaining. The guides really bring the castle’s past to life with their knowledge and storytelling, offering insights you’d easily miss if you wandered alone. It’s a brilliant way to enrich your without spending a penny extra. The on-site coffee shop is a lovely bonus — small, welcoming, and serving genuinely brilliant coffee. Staff throughout the are incredibly friendly, adding to the overall warm and relaxed atmosphere. Practicalities are well covered too: toilets on site, plenty of bins, and easy navigation. Entry is only £12.20 per person, which feels like value for what you get. There’s also free parking around the corner for six months of the year, and even during the other six months it’s still very affordable. Also we found a cave! I'll leave you with that! Lovely but the practice of charging more if you want to gift aid is disappointing as it means the 25% the government would provide on top the £11.00 standard entry is lost because we wouldn't pay the extra inflated price for "gift aid" and therefore our details could not be collected to gain this gift. Gift aid is claimable on any money given to charity by a register UK tax player this is a cash grab and disappointing. Such a shame as the venue is amazing Stunning! Well a vist staff are polite grounds was quiet when we went only a handful of people so you could rest and really take the place in. We had time here, beautifully kept grounds and the views are stunning. We parked in West Street car park, it’s free, we found it by accident, it’s about 5 mins to the entrance, it does have a steep climb along the main road on the pavement, so I would recommend dropping anyone off that has walking difficulties near the entrance. We had a coffee and that was good and the staff were all welcoming, while we watched the reenactment. Definitely recommend a trip if you are in the area. Very impressive castle, big grounds and beautiful views over the town. Cost is £10 per person and I think it’s it. They do free guided tours at 11.00 and 13.00, unfortunately we arrived after the had started. We still enjoyed our visit. Dogs are also allowed. There is a coffee shop inside as well. Spectacular and imposing, Pembroke is packed with — once home to the Earls of Pembroke and birthplace of Henry VII. Most of the current structure dates from the 13th century, and it’s well climbing the 100 steps of the Keep for amazing panoramic views. Free guided tours run hourly from 11am to 3pm (the first one was much busier than the rest). We spent about two hours in total — one with the guide and another exploring at our own pace. A beautiful and well preserved castle, the historical seat of the Earl of Pembroke, birthplace of Henry VII, William Marshall's seat of power as Earl of Pembroke, Richard De Clare and Isabel De Clare, Cromwell's siege and William De Valence. This has an abundance of history, and it is so seeing. Tickets are reasonably priced. To Gift aid, the cost a little more as it includes a 10% donation, but still affordable and it goes towards preserving this fantastic castle. Great views from the top. The William Marshall statue is tucked away around the corner outside the wall. The nearest car park is at the commons car park, which again is reasonably priced. The hosts a giant map of Wales and the castles dotted throughout the map. Lots of interactive stations and well out informative videos. Outside is a small shop but it is well stocked.
