Waterloo Monument

Jedburgh, United Kingdom Historical landmark

One of the Best Places To Visits in Nisbet Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Quite a up to the top which puts all lot of folk off from going up there so most of the time theirs nobody about and it's nice and peaceful. Looks like a good from Harestaines visitor centre but we knew our old dog wouldn’t manage so we drove much nearer. No proper car park but enough space on the road to park safely. Nice 10-15 minute through woods but then a stile unsuitable for dogs so we needed to take turnabout waiting behind the stile. Views worth the short climb. A wonderful 3.5 mile from the carpark, steadily climbing through some beautiful ancient woodland. The views are amazing once you reach the monument, as is the tower itself. Beautiful views, and gorgeous up to the monument. Centre has toilets and cafe too *If you wish to climb the tower, you will require a key from the Estate office, which can only be collected Monday to Friday * Lovely walk, not taxing at all. Stunning views from the hilltop. Seen this several times driving past over the yeara, decided to takr a trek up and have a look. Not easieat place to get to, and it was about a mile uphill trek to get to it. Once there was dissapointed as it was advertised you could climb up inside the tower, but its now been locked up. The views are to die for though. But for me it was a bit of waste of time. Great views from the top, you can collect the key to go inside but info on the website seems a bit out of date. Don't forget the key from the Lothian estates office In jedburgh £5 then you can go to the top of the tower. Well worth it! A steep hike so wear suitable footwear and clothing. Not well signposted so use Google maps. We parked as close as we could and walked the rest through the woods and it was steep. The tower has a spiral staircase of 226 steps leading to a viewing platform at the top.
