There are signs everywhere shouting NO FIRES yet some reviewers here are say light a fire. DONT. Very chilled place for a wild swim, kayak or just to relax watching the world go by. Loads of space and areas to spend some time so very rarely seems over crowded. Wonderful hidden gem , great for a wee swim , kayaking or paddle board. Take your midge repellent though and neoprene shoes for the stones Lovely reservoir. I've kayaked and Swan here and the scenery is beautiful. If you choose to use it recreationally, be aware of your own skills and limitations as the water can be very cold. Stunning little place for kayaking! Beautiful place to go to wind down, sit in nature and relax. Or get your swimsuit, kayake or paddle board and get in that Scottish water! There isn't proper parking unfortunately. Lovely location for a walk or paddle. No parking so be considerate to residents and local road users. There is no fishing here, so you should be able to enjoy tangle free dog walks. The paths are not clearly marked around parts of the reservoir, the rocks can be quite slippery and the mud looks to be deep on places. There are a number of signs highlighting the many underlying dangers I.e. deep water, reservoir pumps and other operating equipment, blue green alge blooms etc. Really good place for kayaking, few islands to look at and parking seemed no problem even though was quite busy. Great place to go camping, bit windy wouldn't recommend a skirt, make sure you know how to make a fire or you'll be cold.
