Ettrick, United Kingdom RV park

Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. The site could do with updating and money spending on it looks a little tired. But they where nice inside. A quiet place if you like that i found it OK but some people may want a busier place. No shops or anything nearby so definitely need a car to get to nearest shops. Where told when we arrived with our dog Tilley to keep her on a lead because if she wandered of the site onto niebouring fields she would be shot by the owner of the land. Good place if you want a quiet and relaxation. But definitely not for children. We stayed in one of the cabins and it was so peaceful lovely wildlife all around in a nice little spot. Rooms were clean and tidy service was spot on no hassles will definitely be going bk Very poor customer service. Room was very dirty, carpet and sofas had deep stains, tuft of hairs, and smelt of damp and mould. Went to complain, was met by a man who said he was a volunteer and would forward my complaint to the person in-charge. Phoned Gary to complain, whose number was displayed. No one got back. Went again the next day. Met the same man again. This time about the slow and broken shower. No one got back. Absolute sham of customer care. The Mrs got a cut from an exposed corner of the metal bed. Filthy oven and hood didn’t work either. Sparsely furnished kitchen. The main gate is difficult to open as it gets stuck in the gravel, has to be lifted up to move. I could go on…. My advice to anyone looking to go there is, avoid! I’m looking to ask for a refund. The 1 star and the review is for the accommodation and the woman running it. The grounds and the area are beautiful. We drove for 3 hours to get here and when we got there the woman who was running the park couldn’t have been less helpful if she tried. The smell of cat wee and dogs in the log cabin was overpowering. So, we spent 3 hours trying to clean it only for the smell to return within 10 minutes. We had to pick the previous guests dog muck up from the grass outside the cabin. As we had our 2 year old granddaughter with us, I asked the woman (I think her name was Pat as I seen it on a piece of paper in the reception) if we could maybe move to a different cabin, however as she is the most arrogant and unhelpful person I’ve met, she just said ‘no, take it or leave it’. So we left it and drove 3 hours back home. Not sure why it has poor reviews as it's a great place to relax. Yes it's in the middle of nowhere so you need to be prepared, yes it needs a refurb and that is being done. We are just back from a stay in a Tima lodge and it was comfy and had all kitchen utensils you need. The maintenance team work really hard and the change in just one week is enormous already. It's looking tidier and fresher already. I believe there is lots planned for both outside and inside the accommodation and as leaving they were working on the shop area and getting new stock in. Hope they put photos up of the before and after! We had a fantastic time here. It’s set in such a quiet, beautiful area. Great if you want to get away from the hussle and bussle. I was prepared for no internet or signal but actually had great service on Tesco/O2. The lodge had everything we needed, with staff there if we needed them. Best to get shopping on the drive in. It’s quite remote but we enjoyed getting out on the road every day and seeing the amazing surroundings, including St. Mary’s Loch, Grey Mare’s Tail and Devil’s Beeftub. We even took a day out to Edinburgh. Spent a few nights here firstly we had a very welcoming greet the tv and heating was on for us arriving. It's in a lovely location very peaceful and quiet nice to watch the wildlife. Although you are in the middle of nowhere and it's about 40 minutes from any shops. There is a wee shop pantry on site stocked with essentials. We stayed in one of the lodges it was very clean and tidy had plenty storage. The lodges do look at bit dated doesn't matter to us but if your looking for something modern probably not the place for you. The only thing I would say that could be improved on is better seating for the decking area there was a bench but not very sturdy. Beautifal wee place if your wanting to just go away and relax. Absolutely amazing break. Second time back. Lovely peaceful break. My son & daughter ventured out to Edinburgh, Glasgow & Carlisle. I spent my time taking the dogs for long walks. The Lodge was wonderful, everything we needed & perfectly clean. Thank you so much to Pam & Dave, the lovely park mangers. Can't wait to return. Cartledge family.
