At the end entrance are a set of tall pillars that list the number of people and groups who were imprisoned there - Jews, Spanish and French soldiers, gypsies and more. Very poignant as the moment, as the extreme right grow in strength and their need for a group to hate and blame for all the troubles of the world. I visited here a good few years ago, the whole site was well maintained with many information boards with plenty of facts and images about the camp, an interesting but sad history. Thank you to the French people for preserving these important places from European history so we can learn and ensure that we never ever make the same mistakes again.
