Historic beacon on top of the cliffs between Golden Cap and West Bay, with excellent over the Bridport and beyond to Chesil Beach. It would originally have formed part of a number of beacons that provided an early warning against invasion. The uphill from Seatown Beach is steep, but rewarded with superb views. Seatown itself has charged parking, and the Anchor Inn and a village shop where you can stop for refreshments or supplies. National Trust members can find free parking at Langdon Hill, from which the beacon is a longer but very scenic away. A thorough and rewarding which started for us in Bridport all the way down to West Bay where we found a barn full of antiques and other trinkets to continue up the hill towards the Thorncombe Beacon. There is a bench by the beacon and if you just sit there there is an immense sense of well-being. Beautiful and nice Well worth the up from Eype beach on a sunny day , stunning all round and a choice of routes with different grades of ascent. Unbelievable, worth the up a steep hill. Spectacular vista across the Dorset countryside and coastline Fantastic from the summit of Thorncombe Beacon. Definitely worth the hike 👍🏻☀️ We walked past here doing part of the south coastal path (west bay to golden cap) cloudy day but still lovely to see the and have hike up. Not a bad hill to up, we didn't find it difficult at all. Can get blowy on the top and no shelter from the rain if it comes in. Breathtaking from up here. Moderate-Tough Stunning over the coast, and inland. We walked in from Eype's Beach. It was a fairly steep, short climb but the were worth it! What a spectacular area to in, with the most amazing surrounds of cliff tops and see and fields.of.flowers. Parking is available opposite The Anchor Inn. It costs £8. However, you get a £2 deduction if you buy food at the Anchor Inn. Well worth it for a bite and a beer after viewing The Cap and Thorncombe beacon. The latter is the easier of the 2 walks. Mostly grass, I walked bare foot. It was lush and soft. Quite steep, but plenty places to.stop.and admire the beach, sea, cliffs and fields. a lovley from bay west pier and amazing The directions to The Beacon are INCORRECT There is NO parking at Downhouse lane Only access is from eype beach car park. Cars will be towed from Down house and Downhouse farm Park at Eype beach Website change monitoring Monitor any webpage for changes – get instant email alerts when prices drop, new jobs are posted, products come back in stock, or competitors update their sites.
