Beautiful area in the central koper city to walk around and enjoy the Slovenian cost city koper On a regular day, it gives a nice, different view in the facade of the city.. it's an empty space if there's no event. A former warehouse (St Mark Warehouse) constructed at the end of the 16th century. The locals were producing as early as 1182. The building was subsequently a fish market, shop, warehouse and inn. You can still see the venetian lion carved on the wall. Returning from the main square we came to the Tavern. An international cuisine festival was held. We were delighted with the great flavors of Indian, Thai, Hungarian ... cuisine. The history of this building is more than interesting. The inhabitants of Koper were engaged in the production of as early as the 12th century, there are written sources which mention the industry in 1182. For the sake of storage, a San Marco warehouse was built, which is today called the Tavern. In addition of Tavern, there were inns, where fishermen and fishing boat owners met. When the saltpans were abolished in 1912, the building was remodeled and intended for fish market, trade, storage and catering. Originally called St Marks, this was a storage site for the port. It is now a very useful open venue for town festivals, concerts, performance and events. We were here before 2 Weeks on Ice skating and it was amazing, place is in half-closed area which protects you for wind and direct Sunlight, it cost only 5€ per person include Ice skating shoes which are worm and good shaped.. we recommend this place to everyone! And small tip; if you want to have more space on ice go rather before 3pm ;) 👌☝️☝️ Taverna winter ice experience! Great place, great ice, middle of Koper by the sea. Kind service and simbolic prices. What else do you want. Not big but big enough. You can rent the gear. They have the penguins and leo which entertain the smaller children who lose their fear after a few rounds already. Not to mention that Koper is the most beautiful city with the best christmas lighting in Slovenia FOR SURE. Well done Koper! A lovely Mediterranean bar with a choice of delicious cold snacks. Don't expect a restaurant, because they only serve snacks. But all of the snacks that we tried were superb. Nice wine on tap, too. Lovely place to sit and drink by the harbour. Friendly helpful staff. Great coffee Koper. What a fabulous port and sea front. Just lovely. A place where municipal of Koper makes events. Usually for free.
