The place, a medieval courtyard, is absolutely beautiful. The good points stop there. The staff left us patrons waiting outside for half an hour and gave no explanation of why (or any kind of apology) when they eventually turned up. We asked to see a menu and they said they didn't have one. Strange. They messed up our order and brought us extra we hadn't asked for, and then charged us, of course. The inside was old and dirty, and the toilets were gross. The names of the wines were made up- there is no winery called Barto- and the vintage was not mentioned either. No receipt was offered, nor an itemised bill. I would have expected a much better level of service in a place that is renowned for its fantastic Brunello di Montalcino wine. Do yourself a favour and go elsewhere. Or else expect to be served in a grubby place by clueless students... Excellent in a lovely courtyard! The server was friendly and quick, and she brought us a small plate of cheese, salami and fresh bread to nibble with our wine, at no extra charge. The bathrooms were clean. Nice place to get some shade and enjoy a lemon soda but my god the toilets are terrible. If you need to go I suggest choose elsewhere… Cheap and cheerful bar in amongst the fancy bars and restaurants. Where the locals go for drinks and socialising. A great place to try quality wines at a fair price. Wow! What a hidden gem. We got some wine, soft drinks and an ice coffee for our entire family. Such an amazing atmosphere. There was a beautiful courtyard to sit and enjoy your drinks. Some elderly gentlemen playing cards, a pool table inside. Such a cute place in Montalcino. Must visit. What a rip-off , 8 euro for the the B d M , but at most a splash in the glas and when complaining... she says well ... it's a glass of isn't it ?
