Also contained lot of wildlife and saw ducks, geese, and a river rat. I grew up with this park as a kid. Sadly, some of the great trees of my youth are no longer there, cut down or trimmed for safety (there are still some very old trees here). It's a good place for an hour of strolling, with kids or dogs, and the castle in the center is beautiful. It's a hotel now, I'm not sure if it's open for visitors. Just walk around the moat and take in the view, don't forget the old fire station that's been carefully renovated. There are ponds and a small creek, the water can be turned off on occasion. You can follow it from the source to the moat, there are some ruins and old bridges that make for interesting photos if the light is right. There's no illumination, so the entire park is pitch black after dark. You'll be disoriented without a flashlight, do plan your visit during daylight.
