I've past this place many times but didn't try it as I was very happy with the roasters I use in Sarlat. Yesterday, I decided to stop here. This place was a breath of fresh air. Great friendly service and the cafe looked very fresh, bright and somewhere I be will try another time. However, on this visit I bought a selection of their to try at home. I am sipping their Nicaragua as I write this and it's delicious 😋 I've gotten really into making/drinking high-quality in recent weeks and when a friend told me about this place, I had to go. The espresso was excellent. I bought some Honduras beans to use in my Hario switch and can't wait to try them. This place seems very professional. So glad they came to the area! They also ship ☕🥰 Go straight here if you’re looking for excellent third wave in the Dordogne. We stopped in every day of our vacation (sometimes twice) for their beautifully prepared espresso-based drinks made from their delicious fire-roasted beans. Kind and hard working owners. Loved that the coffees were served with water and a homemade cookie. Absolutely stunning little road side roastery and cafe! After googling best in the area and driving to Sarlat, we accidentally drove past Layac. And it was by far, the best we had in the dordogne. I can’t believe it didn’t come up on my many Googles. Absolutely delighted to have discovered this gem of a shop whilst on holiday in Dordogne. Owners are lovely and very serious about coffee. Admittedly as enthusiasts we are a bit picky but we’ve tried their Latte, flat white and cappuccino and loved them all! Definitely a must if you’re in the area and you like your coffee! Great place with outstanding speciality even though art was missing. The taste of the is very top! Staff super friendly. Little shop next to the road but nice environment. Loved it Layac is the only place in the Dordogne valley that truly knows how to source, roast, and package high quality Arabica coffee. The Brulerie in Sarlat is fine, but they use Robusta in a variety of their melanges and only roast their lower quality beans to medium. For a comparable price, Layac woodfire roasts a variety of origins to light, medium, or dark. If you're a coffeephile, this is the only place to go -- with a comparable product to high-end third wave roasters in any large city. The owners are also very personable and accommodating. For my wedding last summer in a nearby chateau, they were the only shop in the broader Sarlat area that would even countenance providing catered coffee. They allowed us to rent their commercial percolator for a weekend and provided us all the necessary supplies for a very reasonable price. Give them your business when you're in the area! It's worth making the pitstop in Vitrac. Best in the Dordogne by far. Delightful surroundings and run by a couple who roast and appreciate good coffee. They’ve even mastered the art of a flat white.
