Cap Blanc rock shelter

Saint-Cyprien, France Historical landmark

One of the Best Places To Visits in Marquay Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. A rather special find and thus slightly thrilling to visit. Personally, I am less moved by the artwork than many of the prehistoric paintings that I have seen in the various nearby caves, but for the full picture, this site should not be missed. The tour guide is very informative and took his time to allow you to take it all in and ask questions. The different lighting options, certainly adds to the experience, as light from different angles, totally changes the look of the sculptures. Outstanding! If you're at all interested in our pre history this is a must. We had Pascal as our guide, can't praise him highly enough - such passion and knowledge about the carvings. So grateful to him for bringing it alive for us today. Photography of the carvings not allowed. Absolutely fabulous. Amazing cave shelter with rock engravings dating from 25,000 to 15,000 years ago. Highly recommended. An incredible place - it's a privilege to be able to visit it. Our guide was fantastic - she really brought the rock carvings to life and made the visit entertaining while also being very informative. We had a very knowledgeable guide who made the experience much richer. Though you can see the main carvings easily enough there's much more there that the guide picked out for us. This is a must of you're in France and appreciate archeology/ history. You get to stand very close to stone wall relief carvings that are approximately 15,000 years old-! It is an unexplainably wonderful experience that doesn't require a lot of time to tour. You will likely need to buy your ticket in advance as they were selling out days in advance when we were there in September. Also note, there are many different ancient caves/ areas to potentially tour, so investigate your options before you go. This one requires a little nature walk to get to the site, then the actual viewing area is one secured indoor room. You won't need any special gear or clothing to enjoy this tour. Another must do in the Vézère valley. Well worth a visit and finally a prehistoric site you can visit as so many are currently closed The young French lady was excellent. Knowledgeable and with superb English she really brought it to life and pointed out things we would never have seen otherwise. Must pre-book, make haste because they're probably going to restrict access to this actual site.
