Once again a fantastic stay at the hotel room really good bed cosy. The food in the restaurant was excellent again. We also made use of spa facilities and had a relaxing hour there. Plenty of lovely walks to go on around the hotel and of course Bolton Abbey The food was very tasty, the outside eating area had a view, staff were very happy and attentive Went for lunch , four of us and a baby. A few £ more than we expected but I didn't mind paying it as the food, service and atmosphere was excellent. location for walking too. Had a lovely meal. Staff were great. Highly recommend will be going again next time we are around that way. The steak was well prepared and I had it rare. Sides were delicious. Maybe a little over priced but everything has gone up🙄 Lovely pit stop to enjoy a refreshing beverage whilst sitting in the sunshine. Beautiful surroundings and service Fabulous lunch with my mum for a special birthday. We were very well looked after from the minute we stepped in the door. Fabulous food and lots of fish choices for Good Friday. Best meal I’ve had locally in a long time Lovely place here 👌 Excellent and friendly service, quality food, beautiful location and a lovely spa. We came for the fireworks and feast evening, and stayed over. Our room was great, and well supplied. With a stay you get an hour a day in the spa, but you need to book it in. The spa was fun, with usual sauna, steam-room and small pool, with additional treatments and a lounge you can have drinks in. The feast was magnificent, with lovely canapes waiting for us on arrival in The Brasserie. The evening was busy but even so, the service was excellent. After some lovely food (that we'd pre-ordered) we were ushered put into the garden to watch a truly excellent display of fireworks, set to music. I can highly recommend the evening and would happily return next year. Came here Christmas eve with OH. The atmosphere appears very pub like and modern. A bit of a whether spoons vibe. Not to my taste as I wanted/expected something a bit more sophisticated and traditional, especially as from the outside of the building looks beautiful and traditional. Having said that, the food was top notch! I had seafood tagliatelle and OH had steak pie? I think. Mine was so good I didn't actually want to share it with him. Regards to the chef!! Probably a 4.5 stars. Service was very good and staff very friendly. Restaurant clean and spacious and allowed dogs). Menu has some quite expensive dishes. However the pie was excellent, looked and tasted superb. Fish nicely cooked. Burger also good. Chips slightly disappointing could have been cooked for longer to give them some colour and the boys wanted more of them. Bread and butter pudding was outstanding especially the quince (i think that was the flavour) ice cream which was amazing. A great, high end, dining experience. The food is amazing and well worth the price. What really makes this place shine though is the service (formal, yet also friendly) and the location (great views if you get sat in the right place). Highly recommend for a bit of a more special afternoon out The Sunday menu here is a fixed price 2 or 3 course. No sly hidden extras, and top quality cookery. The portions are not huge, but if you opted for just 2 courses, that's probably on you. Service was friendly and pretty quick, but occasionally slightly chaotic. Overall, highly recommended. The wines by the glass are worth mentioning too, a bit more about them than you often find. Just had lunch (Fish Butty) but very well prepared (came with chips and salad)and good value. Staff pleasant and attentive. Restaurant popular but maintains a pleasant gentle vibe. After coming here for 30 years I am truly disappointed with our last visit, so much so that we probably won’t be back. The front of house girl was surly and unfriendly verging on acting superior. Food was rushed with lamb not allowed to rest and quality was average but the cost above average. Needs to improve massively We visited for afternoon tea, having heard how fantastic they were here, yet left underwhelmed and highly disappointed. With other guests on the table alongside us being difficult we felt ignored and unable to raise our own concerns; such as very little ham presented on a ham finger sandwich, or quite overbaked scones. To add to this, I was under the impression that The Devonshire Arms held high standards with presentation and flavour with any food produced and showed attentiveness to any and all guests, but this was certainly not the case on my first and last visit to this establishment.
