The Dawnay Arms

York, United Kingdom Pub

One of the Best Places To Visits in Newton-on-Ouse Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Friendly staff and enjoyable meal. Fish and chips got the thumbs up from the kid. The salmon was fine if a little bland, steak was good although quite fatty. It is a fattier cut than I usually go for. The crème brûlée was more like lemon curd. Tasty, but lemon curd. One to try again for sure. Lovely country pub with warm and welcoming staff. Stopped in for lunch after visiting a National Trust property and were pleasantly surprised with a full Ploughman’s and cider. We’d definitely visit again if we were in the area. Very tasty Sunday lunch in a stylish pub. Food well presented and very friendly staff. Two or three courses table d'hôte with vegetarian choices. Good selection of beers and a beautiful beer garden setting for when it’s a bit warmer than today. Good selection of cask. Food is delicious Highly highly recommend this old school proper Yorkshire Pub. What a local pub to be proud of. We visited from out west. Had the scotch egg starter, venison special for main and I had the doe burger. Absolutely phenomenal! Beautiful place with delicious Sunday roast options and stunning garden overlooking the river! Pork belly roast, arancini, salmon were the highlights and would definitely recommend these. 5/5! Very accommodating staff found us a table on a Saturday evening, but we should have booked in advance. Lovely food, very generous portions and very attentive staff. Popular with locals- always a good sign. Arrived by Narrowboat with the most unwelcoming welcome Signage clearly stated closed Monday, arrive on a Tuesday and were advised quite rudely and with anger closed until 5pm. The sign clearly states closed we are told. The sign states no such thing - rude rude people. Will not return by road or Narrowboat.
