Brombil Reservoir

Brombil and land is nestled within a valley on Margam mountain. Entry to the reservoir, is via a footpath which is approximately 900m long. This is positioned on the west side of the site and accessed from the small community of Brombil. This is perfect for nature enthusiasts, adventurers, filming and those with a keen interest for ecology. It is known locally as “Blue Lagoon” and has become famous in recent years with social media influencers with its eye-catching turquoise waters surrounding by hills forests and neighbouring MargamCountry Park. Public transport links include Port Talbot Parkway mainline rail station together with localbus services serving the surrounding vicinity. Road links include the M4 Motorway which links Swansea to the west and Bridgend andCardiffto the east. An absolutely beautiful with crystal-clear blue and breathtaking views. A good place for relaxing or a picnic as well. It’s about a 20-minute from the entrance along a marked footpath to reach the reservoir. There are additional paths around the reservoir, though some are not very clearly defined, and there’s also a trail leading to the top for an elevated view. There’s no proper car park, so the best option is to park by the bridge before the entrance. A short through some greenery under shade of trees and a babbling brook . Where some cross trainers or a walking boot muddy and wet as you complete the short but steady climb . A 30 min . Parking is before the bridge as it’s all double yellows and the local residents and private road signs everywhere make it difficult to park. Wonderful place I enjoyed it. Avoid wearing colorful clothes, cause it's a brushwood area and mosquitoes or any other insects can get attracted. Just a suggestion. But still enjoy the nature. Beautiful place, unfortunately covered in trash. I never understand why people have enough energy to carry beer packs endless snacks and packets up the hill, but run out of energy to take much lighter litter back home! 🤔 Instead they leave rubbish filled bags allover the place. Tragically sad and stupid! This place would've been so much nicer without the littering idiots, broaken glass on the paths, banks, without trash and glass in the water. The ancient regulating system at the has been turned into the litter tip, filled with trash. I suggest, if you going to visit this beautiful spot, TAKE YOUR LITTER HOME!!! 🚯 A beautiful place to visit and go for a or exploring, there are multiple paths to take on the trail to get to the top! However I was very disappointed by how much rubbish was left on the trails, beer cans, energy drinks and plastic all littered around the reservoir. The incline on the trail can be very steep so I would recommend wearing clothes that you don't mind getting a bit dirty and shoes with good grip. Was here yesterday fabulous day out enjoyed the woodlands walk. Beautiful view lots to see X good for relaxing your mind after long day work . Listening to sound of birds and stem on the long the side . Fabulous good for picnic ect . Please take the rubbish back with you . We all need to help the nature for all young generation. The walk-up is absolutely beautiful and definitely worth the effort once you reach the — the views are stunning and make it all worthwhile. While the signage could be improved and the cleanliness around the wasn’t perfect, the overall experience was really enjoyable. A lovely spot to visit if you enjoy peaceful walks and scenic views. Nice hike up - the last bit is particularly challenging due to the overgrown bushes you really have to duck low to get through.. beautiful turquoise and lots of lovely greenery with streams and mini waterfalls Amazing very quiet and relaxing short walk. About 20 or so minutes from car the res. A few places on the trail are a slightly awkward to get too like stepping over a stream but is ankle deep but definitely worth the as once you're there the views and res are stunning! Lovely up , been several times, doing seems a bit easier. Don’t allow dogs in the it’s poisonous. Parking at bridge probably easier and for consideration for houses at start of path. Defiantly go on sunny day as is bluer then. Beautiful place with clear blue water. It was very quiet and peaceful with no people around. A family of ducks swam right up to us, which was lovely. Unfortunately there was a big pile of rubbish dumped up there which spoiled it a bit but if you ignore that it's perfect. Beautiful spot. Just off m4. took about half hour is h to the reservoir. We spent an hour or so there with a picnic. Kids enjoyed playing in the stream. Beautiful place. Blue water, unnatural look.worth going back . Only downside is piles of rubbish everywhere. Just pick up your litter whoever visits please. A stunning hiking spot with a wide variety of environments and amazing views. The itself could be used as a swimming hole but due to (I presume) local teens drinking around the and leaving glass about, I wouldn’t recommend it without shoes. The slope into the is also rather steep and slippery due to algae so if you’re not a confident swimmer this isn’t the place to go for a dip. The aside, the surrounding area is gorgeous with environments that range from muddy, forested river crossings to mountain trails to a striking pine forest. One warning though — to get high up the mountain there are very narrow paths bordered by thick shrubbery. Be sure to wear protective clothing that covers most your skin, and check for ticks as often as possible.
