Glenkinchie – Scotland If I were rating purely on location and staff, this would be an easy five stars. The is set in a stunningly picturesque area, and their new café offers breathtaking views that make the even more memorable. The staff are incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely passionate, making the both engaging and educational. Where the dipped slightly was the café service. If you’re on the 4:00 PM (1.5 hr tour), you’ll likely finish around 5:30–5:45 PM, just as the kitchen is closing. That means limited food options — and since the is in a remote area with no nearby restaurants, it’s best to eat beforehand or book an earlier if you plan to enjoy a snack there. I also found the cocktails underwhelming. The Cherry Manhattan was overly sour, and the tiki-style drink tasted mostly like pineapple juice and even upset my stomach. That said, the itself is great(or so I hear, I’m not usually a huge straight up fan) — and that’s what you’re here for. A tip: arrange transport in advance. A ride back to the Edinburgh city center costs around £55, but the can help coordinate this if you don’t have a plan. Overall, despite a few hiccups, Glenkinchie is absolutely worth the for its scenery, hospitality, and expertise. The and was a experience. The gentleman who guided the was a person. All staff was very friemdly. We visited two other distilleries in Edinburgh area but this one was way way better. Very nice set up. The lounge area was so cozy. Absolutely brilliant and informative visit. Location is beautiful. Facilities are exemplary. The staff are extremely knowledgeable about whiskey. The food in the bar is very good The sensory tour, guilded by Nick, was a real eye opener, consolidating my previous knowledge about the whiskey making process and adding more detail. The at the end was very well thought out. Glenkinchie is an absolute must-visit spot for anyone travelling to Edinburgh! Located about 25 km from the city centre, this instantly immerses you in the rich Scottish whisky-making atmosphere. Our for the day, Helen, was a true Scot—witty, enthusiastic, and incredibly knowledgeable. She gave us a fascinating rundown of the distillery’s history, the connection between Glenkinchie and the Johnnie Walker brand, and an in-depth explanation of how is made, from the ingredients to the distillation process. The highlight of the was, of course, the tasting! We got to sample three of the distillery’s classic whiskies while Helen taught us how to properly nose and taste whisky. She also introduced us to different ways of drinking it—like adding a few drops of water, which brought out surprisingly distinct flavours. Helen encouraged us to find the style that suited us best, making the both professional and personal. This trip was the perfect mix of whisky, fascinating history, valuable knowledge, and loads of fun. Huge thanks to Helen for making our time in Edinburgh so memorable! We came for a and whiskey tasting- our John was absolutely incredible. He was so knowledgeable, answered any questions we had, and was funny to boot. The gift shop is well stocked and Helen was extremely gifted at helping us find a whiskey we wanted. Highlight of our Scotland trip!! For my 2nd 30th birthday, I wanted to have an that was uniquely Scottish. So I found Glenkinchie distillery. And it did not disappoint!! What an amazing and wonderful we enjoyed with good friends. John W was our and he was great! Very informative and knowledgeable about the distilling process and the industry. There were only the 4 of us on the tour, so it was basically a private tour!!! We own a winery and one of our wines we age in bourbon barrels. So I brought them a bottle of that wine! We traded gifts during the tasting…our wine for a dram in a tiny bottle. Seems like a fair deal 😊. At the end of the tour, I was able to pour my own bottle, label it and record it, to take home! Helen was responsible for upselling the engraving and she did it superbly ! Haha. She was a hoot! Loved her personality ❤️ What a special and memorable day and gift…to myself! Ha! Thank you to all the staff! Highly recommend!!! It gets a 6 out of 5! An excellent with friends from Bristol: a lovely location, very friendly staff, highly commendable & professional presentation then & tasting, choice of whiskies in the shop, and a bar & coffee shop (my wife especially enjoyed the coffee & scone, and the lovely view across the gardens in a perfectly airy & comfortable space). Great for a enthusiast, and also for a relaxing coffee if you're in the area. I definitely recommend. I can't this place enough, we a fantastic by John Johnstone who had such incredible knowledge and made the so enjoyable, thank you John kudos to you and the food and post drinks were amazing! Wonderfully charming and handsome Glenfiddich! We had such an insightful, incredible and wonderful sensory doing the of Glenfiddich. We went with some friends and our was incredible at story telling, walking us through the process so clearly, I learn so much about whiskey 🥃 in 1 short hour and the will always be remembered. I enjoyed the whole journey from start to finish. Such a cool experience, unlike anything I’ve done before. High highly doing this if you’re in Edinburgh! Awesome learning the history of Gelnkinchie. John W was a guide, very informative and engaging! Had an amazing at the Glenkinchie tour! The is stunning, and the whisky-making process was brought to life by our fantastic guide, Keith. His passion, knowledge, and storytelling made the truly special. The session was a highlight, showcasing Glenkinchie’s exceptional drams. Highly recommend—especially if you get Keith as your guide! We had an absolutely brilliant time, Tony was so lovely and sense of humour. We are locals and always fancied the tour, my husband loves whiskey. We got tickets that were given to the Vocal charity for local carers, so we could finally go! We were not disappointed, the sensory room was brilliant, the was so interesting, the whiskey samples were beautiful, generous discount for folk in the shop, and the grounds are just breath taking! I'd highly this to anyone, even if your not totally keen on whiskey (like me), you learn so much and the guides are just hilarious. (you also don't need to drink the whiskey, you can take it home haha) Fantastic and with John B. We visited the on a Sunday morning, we signed up for the Flavour and Cask experience. Our guida John gave us a very professional and extremely informative of the history and production. This included insights on how the different stages of production affect the final taste of the whisky. The final was very good, and John expertly guided us through the different drams. Among those, the Glenkinchie dram drawn from an ex-bourbon cask was spectacular. The cafè near the room is also very cosy and relaxing. Overall we loved this experience, and we might go back for different tastings. Chirstina is wonderfull. presentation of the history and present operations of Glenkinchie. Really well done. Gert. Stunning place, Kristy the was very good and actually cared so much about the place, her passion really showed! For a person that doesn't like whiskey, the is still fascinating! Will definitely again. and very interesting day and beautiful lunch. We had the pleasure of being guided by Kirsty, and she truly made the unforgettable. The way she shared the history and character of Glenkinchie was not only informative but also full of warmth and genuine passion for and storytelling. Kirsty’s kindness, professionalism, and humour made the feel very special. It’s clear she puts her heart into what she does, and it left us with lasting memories of Glenkinchie. Thank you, Kirsty, for turning a into such a heartfelt and inspiring experience. We popped in on our way past to grab a drink, the grounds and building are beautiful. We were greeted by Willie, who was just such a lovely wee character. He chatted away to us about where we’re from before showing us where the bar is. Lovely bar staff and drinks (and lovely loo’s too!). No pushy sales in the shop, just lovely genuine people. I’ll be recommending a to all my Scottish friends and hopefully will be back myself one day. Our group of lovers had a time celebrating a couple of special Birthdays. Interesting, informative and engaging very personably delivered by John J. The whole Team are super helpful and the facilities are stunning (great shop too!) Thanks everyone. Very good visiting Glenkinchie. Our John W. was very professional and his passion for was evident. His explanations were clear and easy to understand. They have whiskies that are worth trying. I highly visiting this distillery. It was a pleasure. This was my second to the distillery. Unlike my last visit, when I took the tour, this time, I just wanted to buy a bottle of whisky. I was greeted by Helen, who was lovely, knowledgeable, and engaging. We chatted about where we were from, and she offered some recommendations, explaining each one in detail, including those exclusive to the distillery. The was well-paced, and the itself was outstanding. Overall, it was a wonderful shopping experience. A beautiful distillery, an in-depth and delicious drams. Would highly recommend! Kirsten, our guide, was brilliant and very knowledgeable. The bar area was stunning with a selection of drinks, including a wide range of options for non-whisky fans and drivers. All in all a experience! We have the Flavour & Cask tour. Our guide, Paul, gave us a detailed and thoughtful account of the distillery's history. Answered all our questions with passion. We left with fantastic smells, flavors and memories. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ Had a fantastic at Glenkinchie Distillery! The was excellent, and our guide, Pascal, made it truly special. He was knowledgeable and engaging and it made our even more enjoyable. The which was a special in the warehouse was well-paced, and the itself was outstanding. Highly this tour, especially if you’re lucky enough to have Pascal as your guide! We had a truly wonderful time at Glenkinchie Distillery. From the warm and friendly welcome to the excellent with David, the hospitality was outstanding and the staff could not have been more helpful. The distillery, shop and bar are beautifully designed and full of charm – we can wholeheartedly a visit! During our to Edinburgh in late last month, my spouse and I joined a guided of the Glenkinchie Distillery. Since the was scheduled for 10 a.m. on Monday, we were the only participants and were guided by a veteran female named Kirsty. Although it was the silent season and we couldn’t see the in operation, she gave us a detailed explanation of the distillery’s history and the production process. We even had the rare of drawn directly from the cask. It was a truly satisfying visit. Went to Glenkinchie recently and attended their with friends. It was an excellent and we had a fantastic time! Helen was our who was and such an enthusiastic story teller. She ensured the was an engaging for us and it did! The sensory and part was my top favourites of the tour. Highly their tour.
