My is sounding similar to Samantha Munro's. My wife and I have about 30 of and wanted to do one on a rainy vacation day in Interlaken. We picked "Flucht aus der Anstalt". Production value was not great, but also common for this price point. Which is to say the isn't very immersive—you feel like you're in an apartment in Interlaken, not a mental hospital. The are mostly just okay. Some of them we thought were very unintuitive. (Confusing or misleading riddles.) The main issue we had was with our master. There was a bit of a language barrier. Our master wasn't very confident in her English. I can understand that's tricky, but I felt like it made her very shy and hesitant to speak with us. The also had no kind of clue system—the master would just come in the and talk to us if we needed help. So it was that when we got stuck (on poorly designed puzzles) she would just come into the room, tell us something not especially helpful, and dip back out. In at least two cases she gave us a clue for something we had already figured out. For example, we had solved the code for a lock, but the was just a bit jammed. She came in and said something that had us thinking the code wasn't meant for the when she left. In one case she told us not to worry about one puzzle. Not sure why. I wish we had understood her discomfort and the clue system earlier. I would have been more forceful with showing her what we had done and held on to her longer to make sure we were on the right path. My husband and I have previously played over 30 rooms, so we are experienced players. We chose to play the "Mind Games" room. Playing as only two people probably added to the struggle but even so, I would still not recommend this room. I will try to give some feedback without spoilers. When we entered the room, we thought it was the locker for our backpack. We have played a low budget before that was immersive and exciting but this did not accomplish that. It is not up to the expected quality for the price paid. Mostly the consists of combination locks. The "high-tech" and "modern" elements are very underwhelming. The computer 'puzzle' crashed multiple times and added no value. The tablet can easily be replaced with a printed piece of paper. We expected more considering the website's description. Many of the boardgame props can be replaced with other themes or props and it wouldn't change the puzzles. The answers are unrelated to the objects and this made the props feel like red herrings to me and the solutions unrewarding. The use many of the same symbols, such as circles and colours. It was very difficult to link which objects and clues related to which and we wasted alot of our time on the wrong lock. Adding to this confusion, puzzle pieces are revealed that are not meant to be used until later. We didnt know we needed to solve the in a specific order. The puzzle to figure out this order was hidden and used the same lettered numbers as another puzzle. It seems integral to the games overall flow and pace. Since it is not clearly marked and uses conflicting symbols, we didn't solve it. Anyway we moved the objects around and wouldn't have been able to recall where they started so it wouldn't have helped. Our master Erica, was friendly and patient. She was running multiple games at the same time, she stayed on top it though. She came in multiple times to tell us which to solve. There isn't much immersion here anyway. Perhaps their other are more immersive with better quality puzzles. Awesome time! The hostess is so nice and the was very fun. Mind Games is harder than Captains Secret. Both games will keep you talking for hours after! If you have a big group, you can split up and do both at the same time. Worth the price and worth your time to have fun with a group. The hostess was fantastic! We completed our first and the hostess was so impressed that she offered us a harder room. The second we did was one of the best I’ve ever done and I’ve done lots of across Europe. This was a nice unexpected experience. Would recommend to anyone looking for a challenge. Honestly the worst i’ve ever been to, furniture was so bad and the was not air conditioned, the place was too small and even the employee was so frustrating. The was not organized, the numbers on the lockers were so hard to read. We were asking for clues and the employee wasn’t there to help even when he was there he was giving us clues for things that we’ve already solved. I really don’t recommend anyone going to this place . It was pretty fun. I would definitely recommend!
