Had a great day out here with a to the farmyard (kids will love feeding those hens and roosters), a guided tour to the beautiful mansion with Georgian decorations, as well as a nice stroll around the gardens and along the Lady's mile walk (took around 30-40 mins to complete). There is also a small playpark on site and ample parking spaces. Definitely worth a especially if you happen to be in the Portadown area. 25/10/2021: using National Trust Family membership (fantastic value, pays for itself after just a few visits!). Good walks, family friendly, 3 out of 5 friendly for a pram/buggy as paths can get a bit knotty but still worth doing. Lovely weather on the day helped, the rose garden wasn’t in full bloom but you could still smell the lovely roses when you went to the area. Parking through the tightish archway near the picnic benches not for larger vehicles/nervous drivers so parking is also available a bit further out if needed. Short queue to get parked it was so busy- parked beside an apple tree! Good enclosed yard and stable sheds with different things going on with a coffee wagon and food truck in the grass courtyard. Kids area a bit light but was under construction or recently finished. Good demonstrations of apple pressing etc happening and free samples of juice! Kids loved it. Don’t forget to look out for the free range hens! This is a low key NT venue, nicely kept. Not much to view specifically, ie only a small rose garden with 6 beds, though i didn't get inside the house, that might be a good visit. I like the Lady's Mile but for a dog walk it's kind of too short. I recommend creating a circuit on the grounds that goes back and forth and around some of the farmland as well, to make at least a 4 mile walk. The best thing about Ardress is that it is another option to consider when looking for dog walks in the area. Nice location in the County Armagh countryside. The road going in has an orchard either side so quite scenic. Also a reasonable walk and rose garden outside. The farmyard near the is cobbled so might be a bit awkward for people with accessibility needs. Has some farm animals with chickens, goats, donkeys & others. Inside the is quite authentic & decorative too. The tour is round half an hour. Definitely worth a for the & location.
