As fabulous as expected. Beautiful room and bathroom and fine food. I treasure the memory of this place. Yet another amazing stay with Marieke and Sander at Abbaye du Palais. Such a warm welcome from both this wonderful couple and their lovely daughters. Nothing is too much trouble for them and we particularly enjoy it when it is quiet enough for the family to sit down and enjoy dinner with us. Sander is a stunning chef, producing delicious dishes with the support of one of their daughters. Whilst another assists their mother, Marieke, with hosting, and serving the perfectly paired wine. The rooms are spacious and tastefully decorated with period furniture, as well as bathrooms with free standing baths and walk in showers. Accommodation is provided in the main house, or in outbuildings with the option for self-catering, including three very cute, well equipped, gypsy caravans. The setting is so tranquil with a chapel in the grounds, and plenty of options for anyone who fancies a gentle stroll or a more vigorous hike. For those seeking a spot for relaxing in the sun, there is a swimming pool complete with quality loungers, as well as a luxuriously seated terrace, games area and bar. All set slightly away from the main house. There is also a pool/billiards room within the house. There is something for everyone here, with a stay that is so reasonably priced. We cannot recommend this place highly enough and may well see you on one of our many return visits. An overnight stop en route home, we wished we could have stayed longer. Quality, atmosphere, fine-dining experience, comfort (roll top, cast iron bath), medieval setting, nothing was too much trouble. A great experience. A beautiful and relaxing place to spend your holidays in the heart of France. I had no idea there would be so much to do on site, especially for kids! Our cottage was well equipped, perfectly sized, comfortable, and very clean. And the dinner (table d'hotes) was exceptionally good. We spent the last few days of our holiday elsewhere in France, but we couldn't get Abbaye du Palais out of our minds. We miss it and look forward to returning. Such a beautiful place, the owners are amazingly dedicated to their guests. I'm so lucky to have met this beautiful family. Probably one of the best spots of the sort, can't imagine anything better! The family who runs this place is absolutely amazing. We attended a wedding here - the rooms, food, facilities and overal vibe was super nice. The family was very thoughtful in helping out / thinking along with organizational parts of the wedding. Worked remotely for a day here as well, WIFI was fast and working well. Definitely recommend going there if you have a chance!
