ENGIE Electrabel - Centrale Nucléaire de Tihange

Huy, Belgium Nuclear power plant

Top-rated.online cuts through the clutter, highlighting only the reviews that are most helpful, earn the most likes, or come from the most active contributors. Great place, friendly and hardworking personnel. It would be great if the community were not so against their cleanest source, allowing funding and political support for new reactors to be built. Continue stretching the lifespan of Tihange 1 and leaving negative Google Maps reviews instead of doing anything that actually could help. Nuclear facilities — you don’t see those often. Five stars not for it being nice to look at, but for it being a novelty. Whomever built these certainly allowed the cars on the high way right past it to get an excellent view, half-fascinating half spooky. Did not think I’d write a review like this coming out of Huy, but here we are there is a nuclear just out of the town that’s weirdly a high light. This perfectly safe nuclear power plant provides 15% of Belgium’s needs. This amounts to millions of tons of carbon emissions saved since it went online. I’m grateful we have this wonderful, stable source of clean to fight against the climate catastrophe. We need many more! EDIT: to respond to the previous reviewer. Accident, accident. Do you know the safety mechanisms in place in this power plant? It’s extraordinary. A comet could hit the site and it wouldn’t do much. We cannot afford to dismiss this safe and clean source just because there *could* theoretically be an accident. We need to get rid of fossil fuels, which are doing damage EVERY SINGLE DAY by design, without an accident ever. In fact, I wish there were more accidents in coal or oil plants so they would stop working and people might start caring more about the damage they do. We had a blast! I habe never experienced such a tense atmosphere. You could literally feel the electricity in the air. Would recommend, but there was no smoking allowed, 4/5 Tihange is producing 15% of Belgium's electricity. Nuclear power has 0 emissions, it helps us to have cheap electricity, and a large variety of "Ardennen" biodiversity with no polusion. Nuclear is what powers the universe for the last 13.8 billion years. And we are smart enough to embrace it. However still not perfect, it is the best option we have for the future. We need more research into better nuclear instead of non recyclable solar panels and windmill blades and greenhouse gas emitting gas/browncoal centrals... Nice installation and good looking surroundings. Glad to have clean in Wallonie. Cycling path right next to the cooling towers. Excellent experience Big thanks to belgians for risking everything because you could not prepare for your safety.
