Slightly on the loud side as there was a large party in at the same time but all added to the embiance A disappointing experience. Have been here many times for excellent meals, but this was a miss. Starter was baked Camembert to share, which was super. It was the mains that were disappointing. Initially ordered the lamb shank which looked great and was huge, but it was unfortunately too chewy to eat. And not just one but both of the shanks we ordered. I asked to change and they were very happy to do that. The replacement steak & ale pie was better but still not great. Could have done with more gravy, and the beef was a bit chewy. The side of dauphinois was great as always, and there was plenty of nicely cooked veg, but you don’t come here just for the sides. Staff were very quick to help, and comped the drinks without being asked. Hopefully food will be back to its normal excellence next time Food is fantastic. Came across this place by chance on our way back from wales to Norfolk, a friendly staff member took our order and even got us some water for our dog, the food was very good, hot and tasty, we'll be stopping there again. We were recommended The Bell Inn by the owners of The Moors Campsite where we were staying. We were running late for our reservation after an event at Castle Combe Circuit and the staff were very accommodating making sure we had a table. The food was excellent and on our table quickly. The food was excellent and the cod and chips were 10/10 according to 5 of our family who had it. Would definitely recommend but booking looks essential. Will definitely return. We ate here whilst staying nearby at Stanton Manor Hotel for our son's wedding. The food was lovely, good sized portions and all seemed freshly made. I have to give a special mention to the deserts. They were absolutely delicious and trust me, as a family we are experts in puddings!
