Definitely worth going to if you have the time and are in the area. It’s not the grandest of castles, but it has a more modern feeling (mid 20th century) mixed with some older charm. We enjoyed our time here and was a great capstone on our time in the area. This is a really interesting château with a rich history in the area. The chateau gives a real inside into the family that owned it along with how life was like through time. The museum on the grounds gives the history of with the area and provides a really interesting insight into this tradition. Overall an amazing visit. Great castle with no crowds. The is easy to do on your own, including the museum - worth seeing even if you are not in There is so much to see here. Fantastic value for money. 11€ for an adult. We were there for 2.5 hours. The château has been excellently restored, and there is plenty of information in French and English. Apart from the lovely house, living quarters, and amazing kitchen (150 copper pans), there is an extensive museum given over to hunting. Also, an amazing collection of Hermes scarves (Hermes started out making the best saddles for hunting). Well worth the visit. It wasn't heaving with tourists, unlike many of the more advertised and 'popular' châteaus. The young lady at the ticket counter was very friendly and smiley. Lovely chateau to visit. Has a lived in feel. Dogs welcome! And really nice grounds to explore. museum was interesting but not if with hounds upsets you! Great restaurant near by - the auberge du chateau. Though the part of the chateau open to the public is quite small it was very interesting and nicely laid out with plenty of information in English about the history and the families. The can be extended with a 30 minute walk through the grounds and woodland. Visited with my husband who is unable to climb stairs. We had previously looked at the website, and found that there was a tablet available for the disabled to view the upper floors. This was unavailable, as it was being charged . ( Only one ? ) There was nowhere for the disabled one to sit while the able bodied one ventured up the 4x 13 flights of stairs . No banister, rope only for the lower flight. My husband sat on the stone step at the bottom. There was nobody to consult about anything apart from the young woman who took our money. The outbuildings, a large part of the visit, are entirely concerned with hunting. Not recommended . Beautiful! A little-known gem that should be included in any to the Loire Valley. I especially loved the many small drawings and watercolors of scenes and animals. A fabulous collection! A lovely relaxed to a beautifully restored small chateau with interesting history and antique furnishings. Had an excellent lunch at the nearby restaurant.
