An absolute must to stop at. We got there just after opening time on a Wednesday and there were just a handful of customers. A fantastic selection of on tap and lots of seating inside and out Extremely beautiful historical venue. By the way the raseing was nice. The only Belgian that wasn't destroyed by the French. Now, there are no monks anymore. You can visite a large church, the and a beautiful and well maintained park. There are two restaurants, one for lunchtime snacks in the courtyard of the and one across the road, where there is also a mill. The is very good. The is also the starting point of numerous marked hiking trails in the hills all around. Wonderful garden behind the Geen mogelijkheid ter plekke rondgeleid te worden. Bier is flets vlak niet uitgesproken en karakterloos, fruitbier nog t best die is lekker. Heerlijke biertjes en mooie abdij! Val-Dieu is a destination. You can hardly go to a more remote area of Belgium but what a landmark: plenty of nature trails, a majestic Cistercian monastery, a sparkling and a rewarding restaurant where you certainly can enjoy local products including their own cheese and beers! Whilst this beautiful old has been here for over 800 years - and well worth a look around, and inside the church - the real draw for most people here is the and bar on site. But overall, despite the crowds at weekends, it's still a lovely, tranquil, reflective place. An excellent day out exploring the monastery and it's beautiful church and gardens, as well as a tasting. The food was good - but the is really something special. Definitely a worthwhile visit. Take plenty of money for the gift shop, if you taste the you won't be leaving empty handed. place for exploring some nearby Belgium places and good with snacks.. The little in the sells the local products for the best prices and there is also a cafe. Worth a trip We had a wonderful experience at the of Val-Dieu during the Easter weekend. Tickets were easy to purchase on their website. We had a guide taking us around and gave us a 45 minutes tour telling us about the history of the place. She was really friendly and very helpful! It's a beautifully maintained Abbey. We bought some of the too, yet to try what that's like. 😉 Definitely recommend if you're in the neighbourhood! This historic and are not to be missed! Cool atmosphere, great little lunch cafe with delicious Belgian specialties, and of course, awesome beer. The store on site also has a lot of cool locally made cheeses, jams and other artisanal food items. I could have stayed here all day! Lovely surroundings and atmosphere, best hamburger I had in a very long time, and of course, tasty beers. Recommended! Team building with my team! Very moment😎 private tour for a group of 15 persons Great experience touring the and Amazing place. Quiet, well kept, beautiful park, incorporated into area. Very good and cozy restaurant, friendly staff, full of items, cheese and of course! Place to visit !!! is very pretty and has an old history. has very goods from the or surrounding region. We originally went to get lunch at the brasserie, but it is closed Monday and Tuesday even though it was not listed on website or when I called the and spoke with an employee. Small cafe was crowded but decent food options and beer. Great tour, learned a lot about the history and origin of the abbey, the church and the brewery. They also have great and cheeses both at the terrace and in the shop. All are brewed onsite! Heerlijk bier en eten. Great food, fantastic and very atmosphere. The tour and the tasting are a must - but the tours are in French only (ok, they have English tours as well - but they are very expensive and exclusive!) Beautiful and tour was wonderful. Our guide was very knowledgeable and had a great sense of humor. Would go again and take all my friends! Toffe lokatie om te wandelen. Lokale producten te koop in de abdijwinkel en prima aanbod van drank en spijs in de brasserie. It is a must-go place to visit if you enjoy a short & slow exploration day-trip. There is a restaurant at the entrance of the and a where you find delicacies made by the people like different types of cheeses and beer. Friendly staff and amazing garden, everything is very clean and well kept.
