I'd read online that in order to park in the bays right beside the river... you had to go to the swimming baths, pay £20 deposit to obtain a key fob to get down then return for rhe deposit. My child hold the badge and I just thought it was crazy how much you had to do, I don't think it's accessible at all for disabled people. I'm unsure how long this system has run for but I definitely think it's high time for a change. I understand security and that people don't drive down but even someone manning the gate or something that's more accessible needs to be looked into. The kids were also disappointed that even with it being the summer holidays the train only runs on a Sunday. The ladies toliets were also in such a state, with faeces all over the wall, there was a cleaner waiting to clean it up I must add. Its really really amazing day out with kids, we did BBQ by the lake, 2 play area was there and huge play ground, toilet was soo clean and not too far from lake area, people was friendly, Highly recommended, will visit soon. I think parking is 3 pound for full day and after 6 pm is free. Edisford Bridge has always been a lovely and safe place to take young children. Peaceful. Play area very well maintained as are the grounds leading to the river. Huge signs for dog walkers to keep dogs on leads at all times and to pick up after dogs foul. So, the 2 young women who had let their large dog off lead and thought it amusing as they chased after it to river's edge ( next to a tot with her Mummy) need to brush up on reading. Totally unacceptable and quite frightening for the child and also for us with our grandson. So Ribble V Council, please address this as soon as possible. Also huge pile of dog poo at water's edge. We saw other responsible dog walkers during our time there. And no, a dog's behaviour can never be predicted. We had a lovely day here, the grandchildren enjoyed paddling in the river, playing on the two parks and having a ride on the miniature steam railway, really worth a visit. Nice little walk, not visited on a sunny day yet so can’t say how busy it gets. River looks nice and clean with very little litter about. My only complaint is the toilets had a pungent urine smell.
